The Wavemistress is always a woman and is chosen by the Sailmistresses of that clan.

3. What item does the leader of the Sea Folk carry to show her rank?

The Master of the Swords commands all of the Cargomasters of the Sea Folk. He is chosen by the Mistress of the ships, usually her former Cargomaster.
