Answer: A natural born pilot

They just don't believe that people are born with an instinctual knack for flying an airplane. It has to be drilled into a person.

2. What is wrong with Cpt. Banning when he is loaded aboard a submarine to come home from the Philippines?

Answer: He is blind

He was blinded (temporarily) by the concusion of incoming artillery rounds, fired by the Japanese. He was preparing to commit suicide when he realized that his vision was returning.

3. What was the name of the submarine Cpt. Banning leaves in?

Answer: USS Pickerel

The USS Bowfin is on permanent display as a tourist attraction at Pearl Harbor, next to the Battleship Missouri, and the USS Arizona Memorial. All three make for a fascinating day of history, that I highly recomend.

Banning was understandably upset by his blindness. Macklin might have been nuts, but not communist. Holcomb was the Comandant of the Corps at the time and beyond reproach. Carlson, as it turns out, was neither crazy or a Red.

It is a .55 caliber rifle initially meant to take out the engine blocks of tanks. McCoy used his to shoot down a Japanese Sea Plane just as it was taking off.

While Pensacola is a beautiful place to be stationed, it has absolutly nothing on Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Which, by the way, was bombed five minutes BEFORE Pearl Harbor. They had to take out those Marine fighter squadrons before they could go after Battleship Row.
