Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To begin, which Elvish language was created for Noldorin Elves, the High Elves?

Answer: Quenya

Welcome to my Quenya quiz. If you have any disagreements, please let me know, as I am only a student of Quenya.
2. The second syllable of two-syllable words (like "melda") is accented.

Answer: False

The first syllable is always accented in two syllable words.
3. What would the plural of leaves (lasse) be?

Answer: lassi

When a word ends in "e," the e is replaced by an i for the plural.
4. Which syllable is accented in "culuina?"

Answer: second

The word culuina contains a diphtong (ui), so the accent is on the second-to-last (or, in this case, second) syllable.
5. Which of these words would be closest to the translation for "am"?

Answer: na

Nuva = will be, nie = to be, ne = was.
6. Which of these is something you could do to a noun to make it a noun in the locative case?

Answer: Add -sse, or -esse if the word ends in a consonant.

For example: "mel" meaning love becomes melmesse for "in love."
7. If the noun is plural, the adjective must be declined to the plural.

Answer: True

The example on http://hem.passagen.se/noldo/quenya.html is:
carne parma (red book) becomes carni parmar (red books).
8. Which of these Quenya pronoun suffixes means "we"?

Answer: - lme

9. Which of these could be used to negate a sentence?

Answer: la

Example: "Nanye melmesse o Elessar" ("I am in love with Aragorn.") can become "I am not in love with Aragorn" by stating, "La nanye melmesse o Elessar."
10. A quick vocabulary question: what does "laurie" mean?

Answer: gold

Hope you enjoyed it. I'm not very talented with Quenya, but I love it, so some day I hope to be able to speak much more fluently. Thanks for taking my quiz!
