More interesting historical pirate trivia: a "gentleman" pirate captain who later found himself in the employ of Blackbeard was named Stede Bonnet. Coincidence? Stephen Bonnet is described as always appearing to be a "gentleman".

In "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" the answer is finally given in the form of a birthmark on Jemmy's head that matches Roger's. Bonnet raped Brianna a week after she was intimate with Roger, making the origins of little Jeremiah questionable. Due to the fact that Jemmy had Bree's red hair and both men had green eyes, there was really no real way to know for sure in the eighteenth century who was the biological father.
