1. Who is the narrator of this story?

Answer: Ponyboy

This book is written in first person, narrated by Ponyboy. S.E. Hinton has a male as the main character and narrator because she knows both boys and girls will read a book with a male main character, but not the other way around.
2. Why does Ponyboy share a room with Sodapop?

Answer: After their parents died, Ponyboy started to have bad dreams

Ponyboy says that he shared a room with Sodapop because he was explaining he had bad dreams. When he started sharing a room with Sodapop the bad dreams stopped.
3. Which character had this description? "...was the oldest of the gang and the wisecracker of the bunch..."

Answer: Two-Bit

Two-Bit is the wisecracker and the funny guy. Darry is technically the oldest but Two-Bit is eighteen-and-a-half and is still a junior because he likes to go to school. Ponyboy says this in the first chapter when he is describing everyone in the gang.
4. What was the time of the freight train Ponyboy and Johnny took?

Answer: 3:15

Dally instructed Ponyboy and Johnny to take the 3:15freight train to Windrixville after Johnny stabbed the Soc(Bob).
5. Which girl did Sodapop want to marry?

Answer: Sandy

Sodapop is telling Ponyboy that he wants to marry Sandy in the end of chapter one while they are in bed and about to fall asleep. He says he wants to marry her after she finishes school and he gets a better job.

Answer: two a.m.

In chapter two, after Johnny, Dally, and Ponyboy went to the movies and met Cherry and Marcia. Two-Bit met up with them and Dally left early. Ponyboy came home so late because he fell asleep in the lot with Johnny.
7. Why does Sodapop never drink alcohol?

Answer: He gets drunk on just plain living

Ponyboy says this in chapter one when he's giving his description of Sodapop.

Answer: Jay Mountain

We find this out in the end of chapter four when he and Johnny jump off the freight train and Ponyboy asks the sunburned farmer where Jay Mountain is.
9. Who wrote the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay?" (Hint: Ponyboy recites this poem to Johnny in chapter five while they were in hiding)

Answer: Robert Frost

Ponyboy says to Johnny that he always remembered this poem because he never knew what Robert Frost quite meant. He recites this poem to Johnny while they are watching the sun rise and dawn fade away.
10. What did Ponyboy decide to write his theme paper on?

Answer: The story of the Greasers, especially Johnny

This happens in the last chapter. Ponyboy opened up the "Gone With The Wind" book and found a letter from Johnny. He was inspired to write about him after reading the letter Johnny wrote to him before he died.
