Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Dajon Waite and Faith Westcott first meet, Faith tricks him into helping her do what?

Answer: Put out the fire on deck

Faith uses the ruse of a beautiful maiden aboard a burning ship to lure unsuspecting merchantmen to her aid. Once they have "taken the bait" and come aboard, she raids their ships to gain the fortune she seeks.
2. Dajon has finally been made Captain of his father's merchant ship, the "Lady Em". What English town is his intended destination before the "Red Siren" steals his ship?

Answer: Portsmouth

All Dajon must do to prove himself to his father is complete his journey to the Gold Coast and back. Unfortunately his chivalry and soft spot for women cause him to easily fall for the "Red Siren's" trick.
3. Faith Louise Westcott is the eldest of four sisters.

Answer: False

Charity Westcott is the eldest. Her father arranged for her to marry Lord Villement. After their mother's death Charity remains in Portsmouth with her husband.
Faith is the second of the Westcott sisters. She is determined never to marry and aims to make a fortune large enough to provide for herself and two younger sisters.
Hope loves attention ~ especially the attention of males. She often finds herself falling for unworthy men.
Grace loves the Lord and although she is judgemental at times, she tries her hardest to see her older sisters find their way back to Him.
4. What is the name of Faith's first mate?

Answer: Lucus

Faith first met Lucus when he was living on the streets of Portsmouth. He became the family's groomsman. After discovering his background was upon the sea, the two began their pirating career.
5. Five years after Faith steals Dajon's ship they meet again, this time in Charles Towne. What is the purpose of Dajon's move to the settlement?

Answer: He has been commissioned to rid the seas nearby of pirates

After the pirate captain Blackbeard's raid on Charles Town, several ships from the Royal Navy were sent to prevent any more attacks. Dajon is promoted to Captain of the HMS Enforcer and sent over to the colonies in order to protect the coast.
6. Which of these is NOT a reason why Sir Wilhelm enlists the help of Borland, Dajon's first lieutenant, in his scheme to get rid of Mr. Waite?

Answer: Sir Wilhelm could see Borland loved Faith Westcott

Sir Wilhelm sees that Dajon loves Faith, and that Faith prefers Dajon's company over his own. When he realises that Mr. Borland is envious of the constant praise Dajon receives, the two try and find a way to have Dajon decommissioned from the Navy.
7. Dajon spends a restless night aimlessly wandering the streets of Charles Towne. What is the name of the woman he 'saves from great danger'?

Answer: Margaret Gladstone

Sir Wilhelm and Mr. Borland plan to lure Dajon into spending the night with a married woman. Mrs. Gladstone is just the person they were looking for; married to a respectable man, but with questionable morals. Unfortunately the scheme backfires as Margaret is so taken by the handsome captain that she "hails him as her rescuing knight".
8. What type of pearl does Dajon find in Faith's bedchamber?

Answer: Conch pearl

Dajon and his crew were given the job of escorting the "Flying Dragon", a Dutch merchant vessel, into Charles Towne. Faith, knowing his intent, takes the "Red Siren" further down the coast and relieves the ship of half its cargo before Dajon arrives.
After finding the rare pearl in her bedchamber, Dajon is drawn to the painful conclusion that Faith MUST be the infamous Red Siren.
9. Who discovers Faith on her way back from the "Red Siren", colours in hand?

Answer: Sir Wilhelm

Borland tells Sir Wilhelm that Dajon let Faith go free. Wilhelm has her thrown in prison but tells her he will procure her pardon IF she agrees to marry him. If Faith does not agree, Wilhelm will turn Dajon over to the authorities to be court marshalled and executed.
10. Dajon is at sea aboard the HMS "Enforcer" when he discovers all the cock-boats are gone. After swimming all the way to shore he pulls himself from the harbour, dripping wet, and rushes to find Faith. Where is she?

Answer: At the court house, about to marry Sir Wilhelm

Dajon, not Sir Wilhelm, is the one who walks out of the court house married to the beautiful Faith Westcott. After spending the night aboard the "Red Siren" they return home to tell everyone the good news!
