The explosive reaction between the crystals left Laz temporarily blinded, and with severely burned hands, when the boatmen fished him out of the lake.
Marnmara does her best to heal him, but he loses several fingers and his hands are practically crippled for life.

The book, bound in white leather with a black dragon motif, is the twin to the black book left behind in Sidro's keeping by Laz Moj.
Dallandra thinks that if she had both books, she might be able to reverse Evandar's working and restore Rhodry to his human form.

Lady Angmar had always refused to allow Wynni and Dougie to marry as she was afraid Haen Marn would return home without Wynni, and Dougie's parents would not allow him to live on the island.
Dougie is the eldest son of Domnall Breich and Lady Jehan, and thanks to Evandar's meddling before his birth, ends up going with Haen Marn anyway.

Baby Dari is the soul of Loddlaen, reborn to Dallandra.

Lady Solla's 100 silver pieces will enable Gerran to build and supply his new Dun much better than would otherwise have been possible.
