Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. All of the Three Kingdoms books take place in the Han Dynasty.

Answer: False

The land was not divided into Three Kingdoms until after the Han Dynasty ended in 220AD.
2. Guan Ping is the biological son of Guan Yu.

Answer: False

He is not the biological but the adopted son of Guan Yu. Guan Yu could see potential in the boy and decided on adopting him as they shared the same family name.
3. Zhuge Jun and Zhuge Jin are both related to whom?

Answer: Zhuge Liang

They are Zhuge Liang's brothers. Precedented in volume II of the 'Three Kingdoms' novels.
4. Yuan Shao was killed by Cao Cao's army in which military province?

Answer: None of these

Yuan Shao died at Guan Du at the time he was fighting Cao Cao but died of illness subsequently. He was never 'killed' by Cao Cao's officials in Guan Du.
5. Which one of these Wei officers was known for his versatility with the bow and arrow?

Answer: Xiahou Yuan

Xiahou Yuan was skilled with the bow and arrow and could even rival Huang Zhong. Xiahou Dun was known for his battle tactics and valour in battle. Ling Tong was an officer of Wu. Ling Cao was Ling Tong's father.
6. Sima Hui once stated to Liu Bei and Guan Yu that he believed Zhuge Liang's versatility matched that of two of the greatest strategists. Who were they?

Answer: Jiang Ziya and Zhang Liang

Jiang Ziya and Zhang Liang were legendary strategists of their time. This comparison left the two brother baffled. Liu Bei then dedicated himself to inducing Zhuge Liang to assist him.
7. Sima Yi was the leader of which kingdom?

Answer: None of them

Sima Yi was able to overthrow Wei after a time. His ambitions were to become the leader of the kingdom but not of that of Wei. Instead, he founded Jin, leading to the Jin Dynasty in 265AD.
8. Liu Feng is the adopted son of whom?

Answer: Liu Bei

Liu Shan was Liu Bei's biological son. Rumours might have it that Liu Bei favoured his adopted son Liu Feng more than Liu Shan but that is 'uncanonical' information.
9. Who was the first of the Five Tiger Generals?

Answer: Guan Yu

Although both Zhang Fei and Guan Yu were promoted around the same time, Guan Yu was the first whom Liu Bei designated as a Five Tiger General. Being the first, it was not surprising that he should be considered the 'God of War'. Liu Bei was never a Five Tiger General.
10. Guan Yu had promised Cao Cao his obligation to him would only end when Cao Cao wished a favour from him. This debt was paid when many of Cao Cao's most competent generals were being cut down by Yuan Shao's best. Having none who could fall this general, Cao Cao asked Guan Yu to rid him of the vexation. Who was Guan Yu sent to kill?

Answer: Yan Liang

Yan Liang and Wen Chou were Yuan Shao's greatest and valiant military officers. Yan Liang was the most fierce and feared of the two. It is more than possible that Cao Cao's army would not have survived had Guan Yu not been there to rid him of this burden.
