Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Brutus tell Cassius he fears after he hears the shouting and cheering of the Romans?

Answer: The people want Caesar as king

"I do fear, the people choose Caesar for their king." He is afraid Caesar might become a tyrant and rule over the Romans in a cruel way.
2. What does Caesar wish Cassius was more of?

Answer: Fatter

Ceasar says "yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look; he thinks too much: such men are dangerous." He hardly ever smiles and so he might have a dark spirit.
3. What does Cassius believe the gods used the storm for?

Answer: To show their anger of Caesar becoming king

Cassius believes that the gods are showing their anger by making weird things happen. They use the storm "to make them instruments of fear and warning" for their disapproval of Caesar's crowning.
4. Why isn't Brutus able to sleep after his talk with Cassius?

Answer: He keeps thinking about Cassius's plan to kill Caesar

He cannot sleep because he is thinking of the "dreadful thing" that is the assassination of Caesar. He believes that they need to kill the "serpent's egg" before it hatches and becomes stronger.
5. Exactly why does Brutus say Antony isn't a threat?

Answer: He won't do anything

Brutus believes that Antony will only mourn for Caesar and nothing more. He will "die for Caesar" and "all that he can do is to himself" and grieve the lost of a friend.
6. What words did Calpurnia repeat in her dream?

Answer: Help, Ho! They murder Caesar!

Calpurnia repeats these words because she has a dream that the senators are washing their hands in Caesar's blood. The blood was coming out of a statue of Caesar.
7. What did Decius Brutus say the senate was going to give Caesar on the day of the assassination?

Answer: The crown

Decius Brutus tries to convince Caesar to go to the Capitol by telling him that the senators were going to give him the crown. "If he shall send them word" that he "will not come, their minds may change" and not give him the crown.
8. Where is Caesar's body laid right after he is killed?

Answer: Under Pompey's statue

"On Pompey's basis lies along no worthier that the dust" which is Caesar. Since Caesar killed Pompey, the senators places his body under Pompey's statue to symbolize revenge for his death.
9. What was one reason Brutus told the Romans to explain why he killed Caesar?

Answer: He did it for Rome

He told them that "he loved Rome more" so he killed Caesar because he was becoming "ambitious". He saved the people from a tyrant.
10. What did Antony tell the Romans that they should prepare to do?

Answer: Cry

He said "if you have tears, prepare to shed them now." Caesar was a nice guy and he wanted to help the people not rule over them. Antony read Caesar's will and it said he left "every Roman citizen" about "seventy-five drachmas." After the Romans heard this they began to go mad.
