Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which breakthrough did Nynaeve achieve for the first time in "Towers of Midnight"?

Answer: She Healed the madness the taint had left on the Asha'man

The first Asha'man Nynaeve Healed was Naeff. She couldn't do the same for Rand, however he was still impressed by her feat, which was considered impossible even by many Healers during the Age of Legends.
2. When Mat finally entered the Tower of Ghenjei, who were his two companions?

Answer: Thom Merrilin and Noal Charin

Noal Charin ended up sacrificing himself so the others could escape. It turns out his real identity was the legendary journeyman Jain Farstrider. Birgitte had entered the Tower of Ghenjei in a previous incarnation, without making it back.
3. Which of the following High Lords turned out to be a Darkfriend?

Answer: Weiramon

The High Lady Anaiyella turned out to be a Darkfriend as well. Rand figured it out because they both had trouble looking directly into his eyes, a common theme for Darkfriends in "Towers of Midnight". Rand let them both go to spread the message that Darkfriends couldn't hide among his people anymore.
4. When Rand visited the White Tower, what comment did Gareth Bryne make about his demeanor?

Answer: That Rand looked like an Aes Sedai

Similar thoughts or comments were made later by other characters, including Siuan and Min. This change in Rand's demeanor was a result of the epiphany he had while he was on the top of Dragonmount, at the end of "The Gathering Storm".
5. "Towers of Midnight" features the end of which storyline for Perrin?

Answer: His animosity with the Children of the Light

Perrin had killed two Children of the Light in the "Eye of the World", so Galad set as punishment that Perrin should pay 500 crowns to the victims' families as compensation, as well as fight in the Last Battle with all his strength. Not all Children of the Light were pleased with this decision, but everyone accepted it except for Jaret Byar.
6. Which Forsaken did Egwene battle against in the Tel'aran'rhiod?

Answer: Mesaana

Mesaana, who had been described as an 'Amyrlin for the Shadow', ended up losing her mind. The Aes Sedai speculate that she will never regain her personality, but since her body is still alive, they haven't decided what to do with her.
7. Mat had to pay 'half the light of the world' as a price to the Eelfinn. What was that price?

Answer: The Eelfinn took one of his eyes

During the events of "The Shadow Rising", Mat visited the Aelfinn. One the answers he got was that he would 'have to give up half the light of the world, to save the world'. Since he gave his left eye to the Eelfinn to get Moiraine back safely, it can be expected that she still has a vital role to play.
8. Who visited Rand in his dream, asking him to save them?

Answer: Lanfear

Lanfear appeared in Rand's dream, telling him 'He' (implying the Dark One) was torturing her. Rand didn't recognise her at first, because she has been reincarnated as Cyndane into a new body. He was surprised to find out that along with his hatred for her, he still felt concern and desire.
9. In "Towers of Midnight", the murderous gholam was finally defeated. How did that happen?

Answer: Mat pushed it into the darkness of a Skimming gateway

Only six gholam, three male and three female, had been created during the Age of Legends by Aginor. The only thing known to harm the gholam in any way is Mat's medallion. Since they are unaffected by the One Power, they are ideal candidates to assassinate channelers.
10. When Gawyn was fighting off the Bloodknives that had stayed back to kill Egwene, what trick allowed him to defeat the last two of them?

Answer: He smothered the only lantern in the room, so no one could see

The Bloodknives were murderers who possessed a ring ter'angreal that allowed them to hide in the Shadows. Since the lantern went out and the room was all dark, Gawyn took them out thanks to his superior swordsmanship skills. After that incident, Egwene finally bonded him as her Warder.
