Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start out with an easy one. What's the full name of Princess Daisy?

Answer: Princess Marguerite Alexandrovna Valensky

Daisy got her nickname from the press. When they first saw her as a newborn baby, her platinum hair made a halo around her face and they thought she looked like a daisy. Danielle is her twin sister Dani, Princess Tatiana is Daisy's grandmother, and Francesca is her mother.
Incidentally, 'Daisy' is also a nickname for Marguerite.
2. Which Judith Krantz heroine became a publisher?

Answer: Maxi Amberville

In 'I'll Take Manhattan', Maxi's father was a successful magazine publisher. When he died, his brother wanted to sell the company. So Maxi took over publication of one magazine to spite him and save the company. She ended up in charge of the whole works.
3. Which heroine was the daughter of a painter?

Answer: Fauve Lunel

Fauve got her name because her father thought she was as colorful as a fauve painting. Her father was Julien Mistral. Maxi's father was a publisher, Gigi's a film producer, and Billy's a doctor.
4. Who had the hobby of collecting antique lingerie?

Answer: Gigi Orsini

This was the seed that sprouted "Scruples Two". Princess Daisy collected vintage clothing, India collected bed linen, which Toby called her 'hope chest', and Angelica didn't collect anything at all.
5. Who was very fat until she was twenty?

Answer: Billy Winthrop

Maxi wasn't fat at all. Gigi and Daisy? Not on your life!
Billy was a victim of emotional neglect as a child. It wasn't until she spent a year in Paris that she slimmed out and acquired sophistication and poise.
6. What is Spider Elliott's real name?

Answer: Peter

He was named Spider by his younger sisters because he loved to read aloud to them from his favorite "Spiderman" comics. Interestingly, Spiderman is also named Peter.
7. Spider Elliott has three sets of twin sisters.

Answer: True

His mother kept on having children in hopes of having another boy. She kept on producing twin girls instead! Their names were June and January, Holly and Heather, and Pansy and Petunia.
8. Dolly Moon won Best Supporting Actress in the Oscars, but she was more remembered for something she did that Awards Night. What did she do?

Answer: She made a spectacular exit before the winners were announced.

Dolly was then pregnant. Her water broke while she was inside the auditorium and she made a spectacular exit with a wet patch on the back of her skirt, before the winners were announced for her category.
9. Which Judith Krantz heroine is a photographer?

Answer: Jazz

Jazz runs "Dazzle", which is a studio. Maxi is a publisher, Billy runs a store, "Scruples", and Gigi was a caterer's assistant and later a copywriter.
10. What set of Julien Mistral's paintings were of Maggy?

Answer: La Rouquinne or the Redhead

Mistral originally gave Maggy one of the paintings, but Kate Browning took it, saying that the set should not be broken up. That was when Maggy realized that Mistral cared for his work more than he did her.
11. Which character married his daughter's best friend and future sister-in-law?

Answer: Vito Orsini

Near the end of 'Lovers', Vito marries Sasha Nevsky, who is the best friend of his daughter Gigi, and who is also the sister of Gigi's on-again, off-again boyfriend Zach Nevsky. Julien Mistral married Kate Browning, Cutter Amberville married his brother's wife, and Stash married Francesca Vernon.
12. What would Lily Amberville have been had she not married Zachary Amberville?

Answer: Ballerina

Lily's full name and title is The Honorable Lily Davina Adamsfield Amberville. She had been training for the ballet since she was little, but when she heard her teachers saying that she lacked star quality, she quit and married Zachary instead.
13. What do Francesca Vernon Valensky, India West and Dolly Moon have in common?

Answer: They are all actresses.

Francesca married Prince Stash Valensky, India married her best friend Maxi's brother Toby, and Dolly Moon married her publicist, Lester Weinstock, who gave his name to her illegitimate daughter Wendy Wilhelmina.
14. Which heroines of different books are related?

Answer: Jazz and Fauve

Fauve's mother was the supermodel Theodora Lunel, who was the illegitimate daughter of Perry Kilkullen in 'Mistral's Daughter', while Jazz in 'Dazzle' is also a Kilkullen. In 'Dazzle', Jazz and Fauve meet while in a restaurant, and Jazz points Fauve out to her companion as her cousin. Incidentally, Princess Daisy also makes an appearance in 'Dazzle'.
15. What caused the rift between Fauve and her father?

Answer: She found out that he had refused to help his Jewish friends during World War 2.

Fauve loved her father very much. But then her father's wife maliciously told her that Mistral had turned away all his Jewish friends who came to him for help and refuge from the Nazis during World War 2, including Eric Avigdor's father. Fauve could not accept that her father could so cold-bloodedly prefer his art above the lives of human beings.

As atonement, Mistral painted the Cavaillon series, which he left to Fauve when he died.
