Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Wife of Eddard Stark, now leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners as Lady Stoneheart

Answer: Catelyn Tully

Catelyn Tully was the firstborn daughter of Lord Hoster Tully of Riverrun and his wife, Minisa Whent. Just before Robert's Rebellion, she was promised to Brandon Stark and when he was killed under orders of the Mad King, she was wed to his brother, Eddard. As time went by, they grew to love each other deeply, in a manner not common to most arranged marriages.
2. Widow of King Robert Baratheon, guilty of incest with her own brother

Answer: Cersei Lannister

Cersei's incestuous relationship with her brother, Jaime, was the source of many evils that plagued the realm. All three of Cersei's children are Jaime's and none her husband's. Cersei is portrayed as having a never-slaking thirst for power and an abysmal hatred for her dwarf brother, Tyrion.
3. The kraken's daughter, captures Deepwood Motte to lose it later to Stannis Baratheon

Answer: Asha Greyjoy

Asha is the only daughter of Balon Greyjoy and Alannys Harlaw. Despite her gender, she is fierce, aggressive and capable of leading men to battle. When Balon Greyjoy rebelled against the Iron Throne, Asha was sent to capture Deepwood Motte, succeeding in her endeavor. They are able to hold it for a long time, but finally they are overtaken by Stannis Baratheon's army.
4. Daughter of Selwyn, formerly in service of Renly Baratheon, mocked as "The Beauty"

Answer: Brienne of Tarth

Brienne is, at least by Westerosi standards, not a beautiful woman. She enjoys unladylike activities, like horse riding and jousting. In "A Clash of Kings", she wins a place in Renly Baratheon's Kingsguard and is in the tent when Renly is assassinated, her failure to protect him haunting her.
5. The Old Bear's younger sister, now rules Bear Island in place of her disgraced nephew

Answer: Maege Mormont

Maege Mormont is Jeor Mormont's younger sister. She is a strong woman, fiercely loyal to the Starks. When Robb Stark is proclaimed King in the North by two of his vassals, Gretjon Umber and Rickard Karstark, Maege proclaims him "King of Winter". In "A Storm of Swords", Robb sends Maege and Jason Mallister to the Greywater Watch, to find Howland Reed, one of his father's friends, and help the northmen retake Moat Cailin.

However, by the end of the fifth book it is not revealed if they ever reached their destination.
6. A 36-year-old priestess, serving in the House of Black and White, in Braavos

Answer: The Waif

Though the Waif appears much younger, she tells Arya Stark she is 36 years old. When Arya becomes a novice of the Faceless Men, the Waif is assigned to teach her the Tongue of Braavos and how to tell lies. In exchange, Arya has to teach the Waif the Common Tongue of Westeros.
7. Illegitimate daughter of Robert Baratheon, resides in the Vale and loves mules

Answer: Mya Stone

We first meet Mya Stone in the first book, when she helps Catelyn Stark and her party, including prisoner Tyrion Lannister, ascend to the Eyrie. In the fourth book, she befriends Alayne Stone, who is in fact Sansa Stark posing as Petyr Baelish's illegitimate daughter.
8. One of the Free Folk, captive and lover of Jon Snow

Answer: Ygritte

Ygritte was a wildling in Rattleshirt's group. During the Great Ranging, Qhorin Halfhand and his group skirmished with Ygritte and other of Rattleshirt's guards, in the Skirling Pass at the Frostfangs. Qhorin ordered Jon Snow to execute Ygritte, but Jon could not do it and let her go instead. Later, when the group was captured by Rattleshirt, Jon pretended to turn his cloak.

He and Ygritte became lovers shortly afterwards but later Jon shows his true allegiance, deserting the wildlings and warning the Night's Watch of Rayder's doings.

In the subsequent Battle of Castle Black, Ygritte is mortally wounded and dies in Jon's arms.
9. A lady from Highgarden, thrice wed to kings, twice a widow

Answer: Margaery Tyrell

Margaery is the daughter of Lord Mace Tyrell of Highgarden. In "A Clash of Kings", she is wed to Renly Baratheon, thus securing an alliance between the Stormlands and the Reach against the Lannisters. After Renly's death, the Tyrells choose to ally with the Lannisters against Stannis Baratheon, playing a crucial role in the latter's defeat at the Battle of Blackwater Rush. Margaery is wed to Joffrey Baratheon, but Joffrey is poisoned during the wedding feast and his brother, Tommen, replaces him both as king and husband to Margaery.
10. Shadowbinder from the East and red priestess in service of Stannis Baratheon

Answer: Melisandre of Asshai

Melisandre is introduced to the readers in the second book, "A Clash of Kings". She believes that Stannis Baratheon is Azor Ahai reborn, the Prince that Was Promised who will save the realm from the Others. She also believes in the power of king's blood.

Her presence at Stannis' court divides the men supporting Stannis in two factions: the Queen's men, who follow Melisandre's religion and the king's men, who do not trust the red woman and her mysterious powers.
