Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'One man is copying the most notorious killers in history.'

Answer: Copycat

Sigourney Weaver plays the criminologist to Holly Hunter and Dermot Mulroney's cops in this suspense film. Harry Connick Jr. is satisfyingly creepy (how can people watch 'Hope Floats', having seen this?) as a jailed killer obsessed with Weaver.
2. 'Danger runs deep.'

Answer: Crimson Tide

Denzel Washington stars as an officer who stages mutiny on board a missile sub to keep his captain (Gene Hackman) from sending off missiles before receiving confirmation on the orders. Tony Scott ('Enemy of the State' and 'Spy Game') directs.
3. 'Question the knowledge.'

Answer: Higher Learning

Omar Epps, Kristy Swanson, Michael Rapaport, Jennifer Connelly, and Laurence Fishburne star in this John Singleton film about the socio-political problems that arise on the campus of an Oregon college.
4. 'A motion picture that celebrates the art of survival, the gift of laughter and the miracle of friendship.'

Answer: Boys on the Side

Whoopi Goldberg, Mary-Louise Parker, and Drew Barrymore star in this road trip chick flick.
5. 'Every man dies. Not every man really lives.'

Answer: Braveheart

Mel Gibson plays his version of William Wallace in this epic. He also directed it. And produced it. And then he made it again a few years later, transplanted in America with a hot young actor as his son. Aka, 'The Patriot'.
6. 'Jack is trying to save his marriage, Patrick is in a hopeless relationship, but their biggest problem is Barry's brotherly advice.'

Answer: The Brothers McMullen

Edward Burns wrote, directed, and starred in this highly acclaimed film about an Irish Catholic New York family. Personally, I much preferred 'She's the One' and found 'The Brothers McMullen' rather boring.
7. 'Surrender pronto, or we'll level Toronto!'

Answer: Canadian Bacon

This comedy about a fabricated war with Canada was written and directed by Michael Moore, who reached fame for his 1989 documentary, 'Roger and Me', about Moore's attempts to talk to the CEO of General Motors about the impact on the community made by the company's decisions.
8. 'The true story of the death of innocence and the birth of an artist.'

Answer: The Basketball Diaries

Leonardo DiCaprio and Lorraine Bracco star in this drama about a teen's fall into drug addiction. Mark Wahlberg, Juliette Lewis, and Michael Rapaport also appear in the movie.
9. 'Can the greatest romance of your life last only one night?'

Answer: Before Sunrise

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy star in this film about a romance that blossoms in one night after two attractive young strangers meet on a train, crossing continental Europe. It was written and directed by Richard Linklater, who you might know for directing 'Suburbia', 'Dazed and Confused', 'Waking Life', and others.
10. 'Truth has a witness.'

Answer: Beyond Rangoon

Patricia Arquette stars in this film as a widow who gets stranded in Burma at the height of civil insurrection. Frances McDormand also stars.
11. 'If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.'

Answer: Tommy Boy

This is one of those Chris Farley - David Spade movies. In this one, Farley plays a dimwit trying to save the family business.
12. 'The toys are back in town.'

Answer: Toy Story

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen star as Woody and Buzz in this lovable animated flick from Pixar.
13. 'Trust no one.'

Answer: True Crime

Written and directed by Pat Verducci, this mystery stars Alicia Silverstone as a high school detective-wannabe who (implausible as this may seem) actually gets put on a murder case with Kevin Dillon's rookie.
14. 'Beware the children.'

Answer: Village of the Damned

Kirstie Alley and Christopher Reeve star in this horror film about a small town whose women give birth to little blond alien children. The children communicate psychically with one another and make horrible things happen to anyone who thinks bad things about them.
15. 'Life is full of sacrifices.'

Answer: Voodoo

Apparently suffering from occult-withdrawal, what with 'The Lost Boys' having been almost ten years prior, Corey Feldman signed up to star in 'Voodoo'. Too bad the movie stank. There was nothing redeeming about it, save for one shotgun massacre scene that was orchestrated with voodoo dolls (very original).
