Answer: Nine years

The two characters, Jesse and Celine, met on a train in 'Before Sunrise', and spent a day in Vienna together before Jesse had to catch his flight back to America. They haven't seen each other since Jesse left Celine at the train station in Vienna. 'Before Sunset' is the story of what happens when they finally do meet again.

Nine years is also the amount of time that passed in real life between the release of 'Before Sunrise' and its sequel, 'Before Sunset'.

2. At the end of the first film, 'Before Sunrise', Jesse and Celine agreed to meet up again in Vienna six months later, but it didn't work out. What happened?

Answer: Jesse turned up, but Celine didn't.

Not long after the two meet up again, the question of whether they actually showed up in Vienna nine years earlier is asked. After Celine says she didn't turn up, Jesse says he didn't either. He eventually admits that he was there.

She does first threaten to sing a song about her cat, but then ends up singing what she describes as 'a waltz'. "Let me sing you a waltz, out of nowhere, out of my thoughts. let me sing you a waltz, about this one night stand." Of course the song is about the encounter she had with Jesse all those years ago.

10. 'Before Sunset' ends with Jesse saying two words to Celine. What are they?
