Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I wasn't cheating.

Answer: Sundance

This early scene, in which a card player accuses the Sundance Kid (played by Robert Redford) of cheating establishes not only Sundance's skills with a pistol, but also the propensity for fast-talking displayed by Butch Cassidy (played by Paul Newman). We also get a chance to see the easy familiarity of their working relationship.
2. Maybe there's a way to make a profit on this. Bet on Logan.

Answer: Butch

When Butch and Sundance return to Hole-in-the-wall, they discover that Harvey Logan (played by Ted Cassidy, who you may recall for the role of Lurch on the television show 'The Addams Family') has assumed leadership of the gang in Butch's absence. To regain control, Butch must fight Logan, a daunting prospect given the man's size.

As he is getting ready, he says this to Sundance, who responds by saying there is nobody who will take on the bet. Butch wins the fight by means of some unfair tactics, but when your life is on the line Queensberry rules hardly apply. Butch then decides to change his planned bank robbery and undertake Logan's plan - to rob the Union Pacific train called The Flyer first on its trip east, then again on its trip west, which will be an unexpected robbery when defenses might be lower.
3. Meet the future.

Answer: Butch

Butch arrives at the cabin where Sundance and his girlfriend Etta (played by Katharine Ross) are still asleep, and wakes her by riding his newly-acquired bicycle around and singing. When she emerges, he invites her to come for a ride, and the famous 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head' sequence follows, at the end of which Etta wonders if she and Butch might have been the couple if she had met him before she met Sundance.

This ambiguity in their relationship is never resolved, but does not seem to cause tension between Butch and Sundance.
4. Woodcock, you can't want to be blown up again.

Answer: Butch

The first time the gang raids The Flyer, a clerk named Woodcock (played by George Furth), states several times, "I work for Mr E. H. Harriman", and refuses to open the door. The gang is forced to blow it open with dynamite, causing some injuries to Woodcock. When they hit the train again on the return journey, Butch is surprised to hear the familiar voice making that same statement.
5. Think you used enough dynamite, there (name withheld)?

Answer: Sundance

Faced with Woodcock's resistance, and the fact that he has made the safe super-reinforced, Butch uses extra explosive to make sure he gets it open. Sundance asks this as they lie on the ground where they were thrown by the explosion (which destroyed the entire carriage), as money starts to float down around them. Moments later, a second train comes into view, and a number of horsemen emerge.
6. Who are those guys?

Answer: Butch

Butch says this to Sundance multiple times as the two are trying to escape from the men who have been hired to capture them. (Mr. E. H. Harriman objected strenuously to the robbing of his trains, and clearly didn't feel that the local law enforcement agencies were particularly effective.) The group includes the famous tracker Lord Baltimore (described as a full-blood Native American who only works out of Oklahoma, so surprising to see here in Wyoming) and Joe Lefors, a lawman who is instantly recognisable from his white straw hat.
7. I can't swim.

Answer: Sundance

Sundance says this to Butch as they contemplate escaping pursuit by jumping off a steep bluff into a river - since they had sent their horses off in a different direction in a vain attempt to throw the men chasing them off their trail, and were surrounded by the marksmen, they had little choice. Butch reassures Sundance that it doesn't matter, as the fall will probably kill him, and they jump.

A rough ride downstream ensues as they bicker their way out of the jam.
8. I'll do anything you ask of me except one thing. I won't watch you die.

Answer: Etta

Etta says this to Sundance when she is informed that he and Butch are heading to Bolivia to escape the posse Harriman has hired. Etta has just told them that Harriman's men will be hunting them until they are captured, causing Butch to ask why he doesn't just pay them to stop robbing him - if they were paid as much as these hunters are costing, they'd happily stop the robberies.
9. What could they have here that you could possibly want?

Answer: Sundance

Sundance is appalled to discover the undeveloped state of Bolivia when they arrive to try their hand at robbery in a new country. This is his response to Butch's reassuring words, "You get a lot more for your money in Bolivia, I checked on it." As he says it, he glares disgustedly at the llama and chickens scratching in the dust.

Things do not go well in Bolivia (for a start, they do not even have enough Spanish to tell people to put their hands up), and they try getting regular employment escorting mining company payrolls. When this goes south (and Butch kills his first man defending himself when the payroll is ambushed), they decide to return to robbery. Etta senses that this can only end badly, and returns to the US.
10. Oh, good. For a moment there I thought we were in trouble.

Answer: Butch

Once they start robbing banks again, Harriman's posse arrive on their trail. In the final scene, they are holed up and surrounded by men shooting at them. Their attempt to reach their horses and fetch more ammunition has Butch running while Sundance provides cover, after which Butch asks, "You call that cover?" and Sundance responds, "You call that running? If I knew you were going to stroll...".

After a conversation about the possibility of Australia as their next destination, they prepare to make a break for it, and Butch asks whether Sundance saw Lefors outside.

When Sundance says no, Butch delivers this line, and they run out into a hail of gunfire.
