Depp, born on June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky was cast as Jack Sparrow. Sparrow was a pirate who had lost his ship, the Black Pearl, to Captain Barbossa when he was marooned on an island. He arrived at Port Royal on another boat and the guy told him it cost two schillings to tie up the boat and that he had to give his name.

After the boat sank, Sparrow paid him three schillings in lieu of not giving him his name. Jack was captured by Governor Swann's men and imprisoned for threatening Elizabeth Swann's life.

When Elizabeth was taken captive, Will relied on Jack Sparrow to help him find her. They both took a boat to go find Elizabeth but eventually Jack was taken captive by Barbossa and his men. Barbossa tied up Jack's hands and had him walk the plank. Jack told Barbossa to give him his effects (his weapons) and Barbossa tossed them into the ocean. Jack dove down and used his sword to cut off the ropes. Jack wound up on the same island that he previously was on, after he lost the Black Pearl to Barbossa.

At the end of the film, Jack lifted the curse that kept the pirates alive but without any feeling. According to Captain Barbossa, the curse could only go away should anyone who took Aztec gold, like Jack did, used his or her blood on the stolen piece(s). This caused Barbossa to die, due to Jack shooting him after he became human again. At the end of the film, Jack was almost hung but Will saved him. He dove down to a boat and sailed off. Depp reprised his role of Jack Sparrow for the films, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End". He was also in the films, "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Finding Neverland" and "Blow". In 2004, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role of Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" but he lost to Sean Penn of "Mystic River". Other Oscar nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role that year were Jude Law for "Cold Mountain", Ben Kingsley for "House of Sand and Fog" and Bill Murray for "Lost in Translation".

Answer: Keira Knightley

Knightley, a native of Middlesex, England landed the part of Elizabeth Swann. Elizabeth was in love with Will Turner and it was during Barbossa's raid of Port Royal that she was taken captive and then taken to the Black Pearl. Barbossa asked her what her name was and she said Elizabeth Turner. Elizabeth had the medallion that the pirates needed to lift the curse. Barbossa showed Elizabeth what the pirates looked like in the moonlight, with the curse still upon them.

She noticed the pirates appeared as skeletons and therefore did not appear as humans. Later, Elizabeth revealed that her last name was not Turner and thus did not have "Bootstrap" Bill Turner's blood running through her veins.

When Elizabeth was marooned on the island with Jack, she burned the palm trees to create a smoke signal so her father's people would find them. Elizabeth told Jack the rum was gone and Jack was upset. Knightley reprised her role of Elizabeth Swan for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".

She was also in the movies, "The Duchess", "Silk", and "Atonement". In 2006, Knightly received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in "Pride and Prejudice" but lost to Reese Witherspoon of "Walk the Line". Other Oscar nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role that year were Judi Dench for "Mrs. Henderson Presents", Charlize Theron for "North Country" and Felicity Huffman for "Transamerica".

Answer: Orlando Bloom

Bloom, born in 1977 in Kent, England portrayed Will Turner. Will always thought he was a blacksmith and never knew his father when he grew up. As he and Jack set sail to find Elizabeth, Jack told Will his father was a pirate and this upset Will. However, Will accepted the fact that he had pirate blood in him and that Barbossa needed his blood to lift the curse, as "Boostrap" stole Aztec gold.

At one point, Will threatened to kill himself so Barbossa could not get his blood to eradicate the curse. Will told Elizabeth, at the end of the film, that he loved her. Bloom reprised the role of Will Turner for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".

He gained much acclaim when he played Legolas in all three films of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Answer: Zoe Saldana

Saldana had the small role of Anamaria for this installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film trilogy. Anamaria was a part of the boat crew that Will and Jack assembled to help find Elizabeth. When Anamaria first saw Jack, she slapped him for taking her ship. Prior to this, Jack was slapped by two different women in Tortuga. Jack told Anamaria he did not steal her boat but borrowed it without permission and that he would return it to her. Anamaria scolded him for not returning the boat to her and Jack promised her a new and better boat.

This was when Will encouraged Jack to let her come aboard the Interceptor so they could rescue Elizabeth. After Elizabeth's rescue, she and the crew got back on The Interceptor but Anamaria warned them that the Black Pearl was gaining speed. Jack's crew, including Anamaria, was eventually captured. Saldana guest starred on the TV series', "Law & Order", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Six Degrees".

Answer: Geoffrey Rush

Rush was cast as Captain Barbossa. Barbossa was first seen right after his men raided Port Royal and took Elizabeth Swann prisoner. It was during dinner with Miss Swan that Barbossa told Elizabeth the story of the curse and how it all started with Hernando Cortez stealing Aztec gold. Throughout the movie, Barbossa had a monkey by his side that he named Jack.

In the movie's final fight between Jack and Barbossa, Jack lifted the curse placed upon the pirates and this affected Barbossa, since Jack shot and killed him. Barbossa said, right before he died, that he felt "cold". Rush reprised his role of Captain Barbossa for "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".

He was also in the movies, "Elizabeth" and "Quills".

Answer: Lucinda Dryzek

Dryzek, born in 1991 in Buckinghamshire, England portrayed the small role of a young Elizabeth Swann. In the opening scene, young Elizabeth was on a ship with her father and Norrington. She looked into the water and saw a young boy there. She told her father that she saw a boy in the water and she and her father helped the young boy on the ship.
Dryzek guest starred on the TV shows, "Spooks: Code 9", "Life of Riley" and "Doctor Who".

Smith, born on November 30th, 1992 in Los Angeles landed the small part of a young Will Turner. Will was first seen in the water when young Elizabeth saw him there on a raft. Elizabeth and her father brought Will to safety and he had trouble breathing at first but he eventually started to breathe fine. Elizabeth asked him his name and that was when he told her his name was Will Turner.
Smith had a guest starring role on the TV series, "Gilmore Girls". He was also in the films, "One Hour Photo" and 2003's "The Stranger".

Answer: Jonathan Pryce

Pryce, a native of Flintshire, Wales played Governor Weatherby Swann. Governor Swann pressed for Elizabeth to marry Norrington, who was one of his men, but Elizabeth was in love with Will. Governor Swann and his men were taken by surprise when Captain Barbossa and his crew attacked Port Royal.

The very next day, Governor Swann met with his men to discuss finding Elizabeth. Near the end of the film, Governor Swann found his daughter, when he and his men sailed on a ship and saw Jack and Elizabeth marooned on an island. Governor Swann's men did battle with Barbossa's crew and it was when the curse was lifted that Swann's men won the fight.

At the film's ending, Swann's men held Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann at knifepoint for helping Jack escape but Governor Swann told them to lower their weapons. Pryce reprised his role of Governor Swann for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".

He was also in the movies, "What a Girl Wants", "Stigmata" and "Evita".

Answer: Jack Davenport

Davenport, born on March 1st, 1973 in Suffolk, England got the part of Norrington. Norrington was in love with Elizabeth and planned to marry her, unaware that she had feelings for Will Turner. When Norrington captured Jack, he commented on some attributes of Jack and said Jack was the worst pirate he had ever heard of but Jack commented that he had at least heard of him. Right after Elizabeth was taken captive, Will went to see Norrington, Governor Swann and other men to talk about finding Elizabeth and Will threw a hissy fit. Norrington told Will to not make the mistake of thinking he was the only who thought highly of Elizabeth and wanted her rescued. Davenport had guest starring parts on the TV shows, "Swingtown" and "Ultraviolet".

He reprised his role of Norrington for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".

Answer: Kevin McNally

McNally, a native of Bristol, England was cast as Gibbs. Gibbs was seen about midway through the film when Jack and Will came to him to ask him for help in assembling a crew to find Elizabeth. Gibbs was seen asleep, but Jack splashed water on him to wake him up.

When Gibbs stood up, Will splashed him with water and Gibbs yelled that he was awake. Will responded that the second splash was for the smell. During the fight between members of the Interceptor and the Black Pearl, Gibbs was seen putting weapons into the cannons to fire at the Black Pearl.

At the end of the film, Jack sailed off on a boat where Gibbs was a member. McNally had roles in the movies, "Entrapment", "Spice World" and "Valkyrie".
