"Star Trek: First Contact" was a 1996 film featuring the cast of the television series "Star Trek: The Next Generation". Set in the 24th century, the USS Enterprise became involved in a battle with the Borg who were attacking the Earth. After the Borg cube was destroyed, a spherical escape pod traveled back in time to 21st century Earth where they assimilated the planet in the past.

The Enterprise follows the Borg ship to the past to prevent them from assassinating Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell), the man who designed and flew the first spacecraft to use warp drive.

He rescues his father George (Crispin Glover) from being hit by a car, which actually prevents George from meeting his mother Lorraine (Lea Thompson). Marty has to get his parents to fall in love with each other before their high school dance or Marty and his siblings will be erased from existence. Marty is successful in hooking up his parents and even gives George a stronger sense of courage, which he uses to fight off the bully Biff Tannen (Thomas Wilson).

When Marty returns to 1985 he finds out his father has become a successful author instead of being a lowly employee of Biff's.

In the first "Terminator" film, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) is sent back in time from the year 2029 to 1984, where he must prevent the assassination of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) by a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Sarah is the mother of John Connor, the leader of a resistance group fighting against the machine army in the future. Kyle is killed in the past, but ends up becoming John Connor's biological father after he develops a relationship with Sarah.

In "X-Men: Days of Future Past", the mutants of the future are facing extinction at the hands of robotic sentinels. To try and save mutantkind, they decide to send the mind of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) back in time to the 70s. He must work with the X-Men from the past to prevent Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) from assassinating Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), the man who designs the sentinels.

The assassination of Trask would cause humanity to side against mutants and develop more advanced sentinels in the future. Wolverine and the past X-Men are successful in preventing the assassination and he later wakes up in an alternate future, where life for mutants has changed for the better.

"Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" was the second film in the Austin Powers comedy film franchise. In the year 1999, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) travels back in time to 1969, where he sends his henchman Fat Bastard (Mike Myers) to steal the mojo from a still frozen Austin Powers (Mike Myers).

In 1999, Austin is having fun with a woman when he suddenly feels the loss of his mojo. He travels back to 1969 himself where he teams up with female secret agent Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham) in order to thwart Dr. Evil's plans and return his mojo to his frozen body.

In the 2014 movie "Interstellar", Joseph Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and several astronauts travel through a wormhole searching for a planet suitable for permanent colonization. Cooper's daughter Murphy had been receiving weird omens in the library and on her watch prior to Cooper's departure. Cooper's journey takes him to planets located near a black hole which slows down time for the astronauts. Hours on the planet become years back on Earth. Later in the film, in order to save his crew mate Amelia (Anne Hathaway), Cooper must fly his ship towards the black hole. Alien beings manage to save Cooper by placing him inside a tesseract, a five-dimensional structure from which Cooper can move across time and space.

He attempts to communicate with young Murphy by knocking books off the shelf and using her watch to send a message from the tesseract via Morse code.

"Galaxy Quest" is a sci-fi comedy film starring Tim Allen. It is intended to be a parody of "Star Trek". In the film, a group of aliens believed the "Galaxy Quest" television series was real and they constructed a fully functional replica of the ship used in the show.

The Omega-13 is a device that was used in one of the "Galaxy Quest" episodes. It is a time travel device that can reverse time by 13 seconds, which is just long enough to correct a single mistake. Tim Allen's character Commander Taggart uses the Omega-13 after his crew is slaughtered by the villain Sarris (Robin Sachs). Sarris had disguised himself as the ship's engineer (Tony Shalhoub).

The Omega-13 allows Taggart to go back 13 seconds and stop Sarris.

"Looper" is a time travel movie that was released in 2012. In "Looper", Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis both play an assassin named Joe. Joe is a unique kind of assassin who kills targets that are sent to him from the future. Once Joe's employers have no further use of his services, the older Joe (Bruce Willis) will be sent back in time in order to be assassinated by his younger self (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) in order to prevent the mobsters of the future from getting busted.

"Hot Tub Time Machine" is a comedy film released in 2010. In the movie, middle-aged Adam Yates (John Cusack) along with his nephew Jacob (Clark Duke) and two of Adam's friends take a vacation up to a ski resort. They end up getting drunk in a hot tub and are sent back in time to 1986, after spilling a weird energy drink onto the hot tub controls.

They wake up as their younger selves (except for Jacob who wasn't born yet), where they have to reenact their lives as teenagers in order to prevent changing their future.

"The Final Countdown" is a 1980 film starring Martin Sheen and Kirk Douglas. In the film, a modern (at the time of the movie) American aircraft carrier is thrown back in time during an unusual storm. It emerges one day before the Japanese invasion of Pearl Harbor. Captain Matthew Yelland (Kirk Douglas) must then face the difficult decision of either changing history by preventing the attack or maintaining history by allowing the attack to take place.
