In the surgery room, it seemed that the operation had been a success. Half a minute later, the patient began to go into shock, and he flat-lined seconds later. Seth, the angel, was there to pick up the soul and take it to heaven.

Mr. Messinger was to undergo a heart operation because he always ate so much food. He unfortunately made the entire situation more difficult than it should have been, when his wife went to visit. With Nathaniel's wife present, Maggie went to check on Mr. Messinger. Maggie was shocked when she found a box of Ben and Jerry's Ice-Cream under his blanket.

After Mr. Messinger revealed he was once an angel, Seth was initially skeptical. When Mr. Messinger explained the residence of the other angels and the location where they met every morning, Seth became convinced. Seth asked Mr. Messinger why he wanted to be human. The reason Mr. Messinger gave was that he fell in love with a woman, whom he wanted to marry.

Due to his unabashed love for Maggie, Seth decided to take the plunge and jump off of the tallest building he could find. Little did he know that many more challenges would lie ahead.

Since asking for help didn't work, Seth's instincts told him to hitch-hike. Fortunately, a kind driver stopped and voluntarily took Seth to Lake Tahoe, since it was on his route.

Answer: She was hit by a logging truck.

Roughly a day after Seth found Maggie, the Good Lord, whom Seth once worked for, decided it was Maggie's time to go. She was alive beside the truck that hit her when Seth arrived to comfort her. With pears, and other fresh fruits littered about the road, Seth tried as hard as he could to keep Maggie alive, but to no avail.
