Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which film would you find Rick Blaine?

Answer: Casablanca

Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) owns a bar in French Morocco during the Second World War, when an old flame arrives with her husband, who happens to be a resistance leader. Rick has a choice to make, will he try to keep her for himself or send her to America for her own safety?
"Here's lookin' at you kid."
2. Norman Bates is found in which horror movie?

Answer: Psycho

Anthony Perkins plays a Californian motel owner whose mother has a dislike for women taking showers. Unfortunately for Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), she happens to turn up at the Bates motel whilst on the run for stealing money.
3. Sugar Kane is a character in which of these movies?

Answer: Some like it Hot

Marilyn Monroe plays Sugar Kane, a singer in an all girl band. Two newcomers turn up in the band, who happen to be men dressed in drag, on the run from gangsters. One man falls for Sugar and the other falls for a rich male millionaire.
4. Rufus T. Firefly is the hero in which golden oldie?

Answer: Duck Soup

Groucho Marx plays Rufus T. Firefly the new leader of Freedonia who goes to war with neighbouring country Sylvania for the hand of a lady, or is it the $20 million she is offering?
Groucho was one of five brothers, the others being Chico, Harpo, Zeppo and Gummo.
5. In which black and white movie might you find Stanley Kowalski?

Answer: A Streetcar Named Desire

Stanley (Marlon Brando) gets an unwelcome visit from his wife's sister in New Orleans. Stanley and the sister don't get on and the arguing only gets worse when his wife goes to hospital to have a baby.
Unbelievably Brando didn't win an Oscar for this performance.
6. This classic Sci-Fi features a woman called Sarah Connor?

Answer: The Terminator

Linda Hamilton's character finds out she is to be the mother of the future saviour of mankind, from a man who has come back in time. As you can imagine, it comes as a bit of a shock. She then has to go on the run from a human-looking cyborg that is sent back in time to kill her.
Before Arnie was chosen for the role of the Terminator, O.J Simpson was considered but was thought to be "too nice" to play the role of a cold-blooded killer.
7. Holly Golightly appears in which of these films?

Answer: Breakfast at Tiffany's

Audrey Hepburn plays a loveable high class escort, whose neighbours have to put up with the all night parties and her singing on the balcony at all hours. Fortunately for her, one of the new neighbours takes a bit of a shine to her.
As a child Audrey lived in Nazi occupied Holland during the second World War.
8. In which 1950s' classic would you find Jim Stark?

Answer: Rebel Without a Cause

After moving to a new town, James Dean's character fights with knives and drives cars off cliff edges in this classic. He wants to be loved by his parents and friends and goes off the rails trying to achieve this.
The three main actors from this film all died in tragic circumstances. They were James Dean (car crash), Natalie Wood (drowning) and Sal Mineo (murdered).
9. Which gangster film has the rather violent Tony Montana in it?

Answer: Scarface

Al Pacino's Montana goes from Cuban refugee to drug king with the help of a chainsaw and a few other weapons of choice. After coming to Florida from Cuba, he works his way up the drug chain. As his fame and riches grow so does his paranoia.
10. This 1930s' film's main female character is called Ann Darrow.

Answer: King Kong

Fay Wray's character gets kidnapped by natives, offered as a human sacrifice, attacked by a Tyrannosaurus Rex and carried to the top of the Empire State Building by a giant primate - all without getting a hair out of place. This all happens when an expedition captures a 30 ft ape on a remote island and brings him to New York as the eighth wonder of the world.
Fay Wray played Ann in the original 1933 version of this film. There have been a few re-makes, but in my opinion, the original is still the best version.
