Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why is the wedding between Victor and Victoria postponed?

Answer: Victor is having difficulty memorizing his vows

Pastor Galswells is so intimidating that Victor is simply incapable of following instructions. As Victor is dismissed, Galswells points his bony finger at Victor's face and commands the lad to learn his vows.
2. Discouraged by the postponement of the wedding, Victor wanders off alone into the nearby woods. There, he performs a mock wedding ceremony. On what does he place the wedding ring, seemingly 'activating' his Corpse Bride?

Answer: A gnarled tree branch

After Victor places the ring on it, the tree branch seems to transform before our very eyes into the skeletal hand of the Corpse Bride. A frightened Victor tries to run off, but with mystical powers in her favor, the Corpse Bride eventually captures him and spirits him away to the realm of the dead.
3. Speaking of the Corpse Bride, which able actress lends her lilting voice to this deadly beautiful character?

Answer: Helena Bonham Carter

Prior to the 'Corpse Bride', Carter had worked with Tim Burton on three other films, namely 'Planet of the Apes', 'Big Fish' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. She worked with Johnny Depp in both this film and 'Charlie'.
4. In the realm of the dead, we are quickly introduced to a number of characters, including a cute little creature that apparently lives inside the Corpse Bride's head, and whose voice bears a striking resemblance to Peter Lorre's. What is this character's name?

Answer: Maggot

Maggot appears to be a small caterpillar, with a face that somewhat resembles the large snake that appears in Burton's 'Beetlejuice'. His Peter Lorre soundalike voice is provided by Enn Reitel, who also supplies the voice for the Town Crier.

Maggot is my personal favorite character in the film.
5. Victor is curious about the Corpse Bride, and inquires into her story. This brings about a musical number, performed by a certain Mr. Bonejangles. Also providing the musical score for the film, who supplies the voice for Bonejangles?

Answer: Danny Elfman

'A tragic tale of romance and passion, and murder most foul', begins Bonejangles. He then proceeds to set up the Corpse Bride's back story through a song entitled 'Remains of the Day'.

Danny Elfman, who has written the score for essentially every Tim Burton film, comes through again with more magical music in 'Corpse Bride'.
6. After running from his new bride, Victor resigns himself to the situation and inquires about his new wife's name. What is her given name?

Answer: Emily

Victor attempts to escape from the realm of the dead, but he doesn't get far. Realizing that his efforts are futile, he sits with her and discusses the situation, hoping to find a way out of his predicament.
7. The Corpse Bride, quite pleased with her new husband, offers him a wedding gift. What does Victor find inside this gift box?

Answer: Bones

Victor is surprised by the box of bones, which seems to move independently. Tossing the bones on the ground, they suddenly assemble into the shape of a dog's skeleton. This is Victor's former dog Scraps. Scraps performs several tricks, but he has difficulty with 'play dead'.
8. Victor conjures up a plan. He wants to return to the land of the living with his new bride, ostensibly to have her meet his parents. With whom do they consult about entering the living world?

Answer: Elder Gutknecht

Elder Gutknecht appears to know all about the art of magic. He is immediately able to help Victor and the Corpse Bride enter the land of the living.

Gutknecht's voice is supplied by Michael Gough, who Tim Burton fans may recognize as the butler Alfred from the 'Batman' movies. He also appeared in Burton's 'Sleepy Hollow'.
9. What is the country of origin of the 'haunting spell' that is used to bring Victor and the Corpse Bride to the land of the living?

Answer: Ukrainian

Apparently, the Ukrainian haunting spell merely requires the egg of a crow. Elder Gutknecht cracks open the egg and Victor and the Corpse Bride are soon spirited back to the land of the living. To return to the realm of the dead, they merely need to say 'hopscotch'.
10. After Victor, who is the next living person to meet the Corpse Bride?

Answer: Victoria

The meeting doesn't last long. When the Corpse Bride realizes that Victor is up to some mischief, she quickly utters the word 'hopscotch' and the two of them disappear back into the realm of the dead. Victoria has seen enough, though, and she sets her mind to helping her fiancé.

Thank you for playing. Please feel free to play the third and final quiz in this series.
