Question 1 of 10
1. In this film, directed by Steven Spielberg, a small town suffers a possible tourism loss thanks to a menacing sea dweller. An oceanographer tells the mayor that he feels he's ignoring the problem "until it swims up and bites you on the ass!" What is this film? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. This film is shot as sort of a pseudo-documentary, and focuses on the Fouke Monster. It was followed by two sequels, but oddly enough, the third film is the one that has "2" in the title. This was because the director of the first had nothing to do with the sequel, so he decided to make his own sequel, ignoring the first sequel released. What is the name of this film? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. In 1980, a fun movie about a killer subterranean alligator was released, aptly titled "Alligator". The kills were above average and the sewer reveal scene of the creature has stayed in my mind for years. It spawned a sequel that came out in 1991, but what was the subtitle following the main title of the film? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. The year was 1989. There were six films released that year that all dealt with an underwater facility in peril. This film was produced and directed by Sean S. Cunningham (of "Friday the 13th" fame), and starred Taurean Blacque, Cindy Pickett, and Miguel Ferrer. This film is about an underwater military outpost that uncovers a cave system, which houses a gigantic arthropod that begins to attack the facility once provoked. What is the name of this film? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. This '80s gem is a classic example of overlooked horror, in my opinion. The film is about an old mine that was closed down many years ago, after a mysterious killing of all the workers, and is now being reopened. Little do they know, they are now releasing the creatures responsible for the massacre all those years ago. What is the name of this movie? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. I'm sure we're all familiar with the film "C.H.U.D." about a toxic waste dump resulting in the mutation of homeless people living in the sewers. At one point in the film, an operating agent for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission calls C.H.U.D. "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers". However, in the climax of the film in the sewers, they find out this was a cover-up by the commission, and that C.H.U.D. actually stands for something else. What? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. This film, directed by Burt I. Gordon (B.I.G. no less), and released in the '70s, is about a group of prospective land-buyers coming to visit an island with land available, being sold by a seedy land-developer (played by Joan Collins). The land is worthless, but that becomes the least of their problems when a giant swarm of ants attacks! What is this film? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. This film is mostly known from its special effects, created by special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen. The film features an attack of a giant creature on the city of San Francisco, and is a staple of '50s "Giant Monster Attacks" films. What is the name of this film? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. This film has gathered a cult following, despite being a really awful film. The movie follows a scientific expedition being attacked by the film's title creature. It shows early work of effects wizard Rick Baker. This film also happens to be featured briefly in "Gremlins 2". What is the name of this film? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. This film is about a group of troubled teens being sent on a getaway to let them get in touch with nature, but some giant insects caused by steroids used by marijuana farmers plan to interrupt this camping trip. It stars Seth Green and Alfonso Ribeiro, and was executive-produced by Brian Yunza. What is the name of this film? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this film, directed by Steven Spielberg, a small town suffers a possible tourism loss thanks to a menacing sea dweller. An oceanographer tells the mayor that he feels he's ignoring the problem "until it swims up and bites you on the ass!" What is this film?

Answer: Jaws

This horror classic (released in 1975) is about the terrorizing consequences when a great white shark goes rogue and gets a taste for blood. It's up to a salty sea captain (Quint, played by Robert Shaw), the chief of police in Amity Island (Brody, played by Roy Scheider), and an oceanographer with a vast knowledge of sharks (Hooper, played by Richard Dreyfuss) to capture and or kill the beast.

Answer: The Legend of Boggy Creek

Charles B. Pierce was responsible for bringing this film to life, and, as mentioned, had nothing to do with the sequel ("Return to Boggy Creek"), so he decided to make his own sequel ("Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues"). Both movies were much less popular (and in my opinion, much less enjoyable) than the original.

The second sequel was also known as "The Barbaric Beast of Boggy Creek, Part II".
3. In 1980, a fun movie about a killer subterranean alligator was released, aptly titled "Alligator". The kills were above average and the sewer reveal scene of the creature has stayed in my mind for years. It spawned a sequel that came out in 1991, but what was the subtitle following the main title of the film?

Answer: Alligator II: The Mutation

The sequel was less than stellar, to say the least, and really its only redeeming quality is the fact that Richard Lynch plays an animal tracker/hunter named Hawk Hawkins from the bayou. It even uses stock footage from the original film (and not in flashback form), which is usually just a sign of laziness.

Answer: DeepStar Six

"The Abyss" was also released in 1989, but was written and directed by James Cameron. It is the only film released that year in that vein of films that was successful at both the box office and with critics. "Leviathan" was another of the more successful films released that year. The other films that were released that year were "The Evil Below", "Lords of the Deep", and "The Rift".

Answer: The Boogens

The special effects can be a little cheesy, but this is an enjoyable film if you like creature features. The film was actually praised by Stephen King, and he wrote a review for it in "Twilight Zone Magazine".
What?

Answer: Contamination Hazard Urban Disposal

Wilson, who works for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, coins the term "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers", but in reality, this is all a ruse to take light off of what C.H.U.D. truly stands for, which is "Contamination Hazard Urban Disposal", as the evidence shows when they find toxic waste in the sewers underground near the climax of the film.

It's overlooked that this is what C.H.U.D. really stands for.

Answer: Empire of the Ants

The film is VERY loosely based on a short story by H.G. Wells, but is an enjoyable, cheesy B-Movie. The effects are bad and laughable, but that just adds to this film's charm.
8. This film is mostly known from its special effects, created by special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen. The film features an attack of a giant creature on the city of San Francisco, and is a staple of '50s "Giant Monster Attacks" films. What is the name of this film?

Answer: It Came From Beneath The Sea

"20 Million Miles to Earth" was another film that showcased the works of Ray Harryhausen, but that creature attacked Italy, not San Francisco. The other two titles are made up completely.
9. This film has gathered a cult following, despite being a really awful film. The movie follows a scientific expedition being attacked by the film's title creature. It shows early work of effects wizard Rick Baker. This film also happens to be featured briefly in "Gremlins 2". What is the name of this film?

Answer: Octaman

This films creature is truly laughable in design, and Rick Baker has certainly come a long way since doing this film.

Answer: Ticks

This film is also known by its alternate title, "Infested". It is an enjoyable film, and a sometimes forgotten gem in the world of creature features.
