Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Deadpool's real name

Answer: Wade

Wade Winston Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) is Deadpool, a disfigured mercenary with regenative powers. He first appeared in "The New Mutants" #98 (1991), 25 years before the film was released.

This is not Reynolds' first time playing the character. He previously portrayed Deadpool in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (2009), however that version of the character had his mouth sewn shut and was very different from the comics and 2016 movie. The 2016 movie includes a scene with a toy Deadpool from the 2009 movie.

Reynolds has been linked to Deadpool ever since "Cable & Deadpool" #2 (2004). In that issue, Deadpool refers to himself as looking like "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-Pei", which got the actor's attention. There's even dialogue in the movie about looking like he was "bitten by a readioactive Shar-Pei".
2. Deadpool's girlfriend

Answer: Vanessa

Vanessa (played by Morena Baccarin) is a waitress at a strip club who is with Deadpool for about a year in the movie. Soon after she accepts his proposal of marriage, he collapses from what the couple later learns is cancer.

In the comics, Deadpool and Vanessa have a much shorter relationship. Vanessa is also a mutant shapeshifter called Copycat, and eventually becomes a mercenary. She first appeared in "The New Mutants" #98 (1991) with Deadpool, but she was impersonating the character Domino at the time. Her first appearance as Copycat was "X-Force" #19 (1993).
3. Deadpool's bartender friend

Answer: Weasel

Weasel (played by T. J. Miller) is a bartender at Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children, the mercenary bar where Wade Wilson gets his jobs. He's Wade's closest friend, and helps him once he becomes super-powered, even helping him come up with the name Deadpool. Despite their friendship, Weasel has placed money on Wade being the next to die in the "dead pool" run at the bar.

In the comic books, Weasel is not a bartender but is Deadpool's friend/sidekick/tech specialist/arms dealer. He first appeared in "Cable" #3 (1993).
4. Deadpool's (platonic) roommate

Answer: Blind Al

Deadpool meets Blind Al (played by Leslie Uggams) at a laundromat. They become roommates when she answers an oddly specific Craigslist advertisement. She builds IKEA furniture for Deadpool, but not very well (she is blind, after all).

In the comics, Blind Al is as much Deadpool's prisoner as she is his roommate, though she is one of the few people to stand up to him. She first appeared in "Deadpool" #1 (1997).
5. The large, steel-skinned X-man who helps Deadpool

Answer: Colossus

Four performers were needed to portray Colossus. Andre Tricoteux was on set, wearing elevated shoes or headgear to get the height correct; T. J. Storm was motion captured for the full body animation; Greg LaSalle provided the motion capture for the face; and Stefan Kapicic provided the voice.

Colossus spends the movie trying to turn Deadpool away from his current path of violence and revenge and towards being a hero. He even wants Deadpool to join the X-men.

The comic book version of Colossus first appeared in "Giant-Size X-Men" #1 (1975).
6. The X-men trainee who helps Deadpool

Answer: Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by Brianna Hildebrand) shares only the name of her comic book counterpart; her appearance, personality, and powers are completely different. In the movie she is a sarcastic teenager with a buzz cut who is able to generate explosions.

In the comic books, she is a goth precognative telepath, able to see the future. She first appeared in "New X-Men" #115 (2001).

The character's name, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, is based on the title of a 1995 song by Monster Magnet.
7. Ajax's real name

Answer: Francis

Ajax (Francis Freeman), portrayed by Ed Skrein, has increased pain tolerance due to the same treatments that gave Deadpool his powers. Ajax now seems to be in charge of the operation. Deadpool's refusal (finding out that Ajax's name is Francis) to call him anything other than Francis, is a significant conflict in the film.

Ajax first appeared in "Deadpool" #14 (1998), as "The Attending".
8. Ajax's super-strong partner

Answer: Angel Dust

Angel Dust (portrayed by Gina Carano) is a villainous super strong enforcer for Ajax. She is strong enough to fight against Colossus in battle.

Her first appearance is in "Morlocks" #1 (2002), where she is a hero able to use bursts of adrenaline for limited super strength.
9. Deadpool's friend who is now working for Ajax

Answer: Bob

Bob (played by Rob Hayter) is a mercenary that Deadpool has worked with before (Jacksonville is mentioned), and whose wife makes a great tuna casserole.

Due to legal reasons, this is certainly not the same Bob from the "Deadpool" comic books, a former agent of Hydra forced to help Deadpool who eventually becomes his friend/sidekick. That Bob first appeared in "Cable & Deadpool" #38 (2007).
10. Deadpool's cab driver

Answer: Dopinder

"Deadpool" (2016) provides an origin story for the character. Wade Wilson, a mercenary with a heart of gold, falls in love with Vanessa before getting diagnosed with late-stage cancer. He abandons Vanessa to seek an experimental treatment. The treatment works, but he is disfigured and gains regeneration powers. He then searches for the people responsible for his situation.

After putting together a large duffle bag of guns and ammunition, Deadpool forgets it in the cab and Dopinder (played by Karan Soni) drives away. Deadpool was in Dopinder's taxicab earlier in the movie, and has left quite the impression on the cab driver, although following the advice of "Mr. Pool" may not be the most legally responsible thing for him to do.
