Kevin Costner's wife was Dr. Emily Darrow, played by the actress Susanna Thompson. In the movie Emily dies after the bus, carrying her and other Red Cross volunteers, is swept away in a rock slide.

Answer: Miriam

This quote is said by Miriam, played by Kathy Bates. It takes place about halfway through the movie, after a lot of strange things have already occurred with Joe, concerning Emily's death. Miriam is Joe's (Kevin Costner) neighbor and is trying to get him to move on in life and get away from the all the creepy stuff going on.
