Answer: Ghost

Everything seems perfect for a young couple in love until Sam (Patrick Swayze) is murdered during a mugging. Sam's spirit isn't ready to move on and discovers that his close friend Carl (Tony Goldwyn) is behind the murder. In a desperate attempt to warn his grieving girlfriend Molly (Demi Moore) Sam contacts Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) who is a con artist medium. Oda Mae is very surprised when she learns she really has the gift to communicate with the dead. With Oda Mae's help Sam takes revenge on his killers and saves Molly. In the end the evil doers die and are carried off by some devilish looking creatures while Sam steps into the light.

Answer: Groundhog Day

Weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) has to report on the annual Groundhog Day festival in Punxsutawney. Much to the annoyance of his sweet-natured colleague Rita (Andie MacDowell), he doesn't hide his loathing of the festival or the town. Because of a blizzard the crew is forced to spend the night in Punxsutawney. When Phil wakes up the next day he discovers it's Groundhog Day again. Phil has to relive the same day over and over again and is unable to break the spell. He uses his experiences from the previous days to get to know Rita and the townspeople better (he's the only one who seems to realise it's the same day every day). The spell is finally broken when he wins Rita's heart.

The movie is based on the Groundhog Day celebration, held on February 2. According to tradition, if a groundhog sees its shadow coming out of its burrow that day, it will retreat back and six more weeks of winter will follow. If it's cloudy when it emerges spring will be early.
4. This movie shows you life can be hard sometimes. Your wife leaves you. You never see your daughter anymore. Then you lose your job. People have gone off the deep end for less. As long as you don't go on the rampage it should be alright. And don't go killing people either, not even homophobic neo-nazis. Which movie, starring Michael Douglas, is this?

Answer: Falling Down

Michael Douglas plays the role of William Foster, better known as D-Fens, a middle-aged man who feels he has lost everything dear to him. Frustrated by the way his life is going he goes on the rampage. When buying a pair of shoes in a military surplus store D-Fens meets the racist and homophobic Nick (Frederick Forrest). Nick thinks D-Fens shares his views and confides in him. D-Fens, however, is not impressed by Nick's racism and bigotry and ends up killing him. During the movie D-Fens often expresses his desire to see his little girl again, a thought that frightens his ex-wife (Barbara Hershey), although it's never made clear if D-Fens has any harmful intent towards his family.

The character D-Fens is generally considered a typical example of the angry white male.
5. You may not realise it when you're young but marriage is not for everyone. This movie warns you not to do it, several times. Going to other people's weddings isn't that great either. You might say something terribly embarrassing! Name the movie.

Answer: Four Weddings and a Funeral

Charlie (Hugh Grant) is the best man at the marriage of one of his friends but as usual he arrives too late and causes embarrassment with some badly timed remarks. Just when he thinks his day is a total disaster he meets Carrie (Andie MacDowell). Charlie and Carrie run into each other on a number of social occasions and after a while Charlie discovers he's fallen in love with Carrie. When Carrie marries an older man, Hamish Banks, Charlie wonders if he shouldn't get married himself. Just before Charlie's wedding with his on and off girlfriend Henrietta (Anna Chancellor) Carrie shows up again and tells him she and Hamish have broken up.

Rowan Atkinson has a small part in the movie in a hilarious scene where he plays a nervous priest.

The movie was a great success with the critics and at the box office. It was nominated for two Academy Awards.
6. This movie advises you to always make sure you're properly dressed. After all, you never know when the police are going to need you for questioning. You also should be careful if your girlfriend leaves kitchen appliances lying around in odd places, like, let's say ... under the bed. Which movie is this?

Answer: Basic Instinct

Police officer Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) investigates the murder of a high-society rock star, who is stabbed several times with an icepick. The main suspect is his girlfriend Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone), who is a writer. Tramell has written a novel in which somebody is murdered in the exact same way, which provides her with the perfect alibi. After all, nobody would believe she's stupid enough to write about a murder first and then kill somebody in the same way. During the course of the investigation Curran starts a relationship with Tramell. The suspicion shifts to Curran's ex girlfriend Beth (Jeanne Tripplehorn) when he discovers she was together with Tramell in university. After Curran shoots Beth in what seems like self-defence it looks like she was the killer. At the end of the movie an icepick is revealed under Tramell's bed, suggesting that she was the killer after all.

The movie is famous for a scene where Sharon Stone is questioned by the police. During this scene she reveals more than you might expect. Despite (or maybe because of) the controversies about the movie's highly sexual nature it was a success at the box office.

The three wrong answers are movies starring Sharon Stone, too.
7. Some people dream of being famous when they're young. This movies shows that fame is not all what it's cracked up to be. Some fans really can be a pain in the leg. Especially the crazy ones. It also shows that driving in a blizzard isn't a good idea. If you have an accident you might not be able to get out of the cockadoodie car! Name the movie.

Answer: Misery

Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is the successful author of the romantic "Misery" series. when he drives home after finishing his latest novel he is surprised by a blizzard. His car slips and somersaults into a ravine. This turns out to be the least of his problems. The wreckage is found by Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), a deranged former nurse who claims to be his 'number one fan'. Annie nurses him back to health but keeps him locked away in her home. Annie is unsatisfied with the ending of Paul's latest "Misery" episode (where the protagonist Misery Chastain dies). Unable to walk after his car crash, Annie uses psychological and physical terror to force Paul to write "Misery's Return".

"He didn't get out of the cockadoodie car" is a quote from the movie. Annie, who doesn't like swearing, says it during a heated discussion on how the beginning of the new novel should fit with the ending of the previous one.

The movie is famous for the hobbling scene where Annie breaks Paul's legs with a sledgehammer so he wouldn't be able to escape.

Kathy Bates won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as Annie Wilkes. "Misery" is based on a Stephen King novel, as are the three wrong answers.
8. This movie warns you not to play cards with a notorious gangster. He'll cheat! And if you're dumb enough to do it anyway, you might want to brush up on your knowledge of antique weaponry. Which movie is this?

Answer: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Tom (Jason Fleming) and his friends put together £100,000 to play in a card game with gangster boss Harry 'Hatchet' Lonsdale (P.H. Moriarty). Unsurprisingly Hatchet cheats and leaves Tom with a £500,000 debt, to be paid within a week, or risk losing his fingers. Tom and his friends come up with a plan to rob their neighbours (who are involved with a robbery themselves). Needless to say a couple of things go wrong and the whole deal spirals out of control, resulting people getting killed and money and drugs changing hands several times. In the end the group gets out unscathed and in the possession of two antique guns, of which they don't realise the value.

Former soccer player Vinnie Jones had a notable part in the movie, playing Hatchet's debt collector Big Chris. The movie was directed by Guy Ritchie, as were the three wrong answers.
9. This movie has great hints for when you have reached the age of forty and a midlife crisis is knocking at your door. Maybe you should buy a sports car, or get involved with younger women. Your wife won't notice. Never underestimate the power of denial. As long as you don't roll joints with the boy next door, half dressed and in front of the window in a brightly lit room. People might get the wrong idea! Name the movie.

Answer: American Beauty

The movie revolves around the dysfunctional Burnham family. When father Lester (Kevin Spacey) goes to see his daughter Jane (Thora Birch) perform as a cheerleader he meets her friend Angela (Mena Suvari). Lester is immediately infatuated by the beautiful but vain and shallow teenager. To impress her he starts working out and buys a sports car, much to the annoyance of Jane who is struggling with teenage angst. Jane hooks up with her mysterious and self-confident new neighbour Ricky (Wes Bentley), who provides Lester with marijuana. All the while Mrs. Burnham (Annette Bening) is having an affair of her own.

The movie has a classic scene in which Ricky is rolling joints while Lester (half naked after working out) is relaxing on the couch. Ricky's father (Chris Cooper) only sees part of what's going on and jumps to the wrong conclusions.

"Never underestimate the power of denial" is a well-known quote from the movie. It is said by Ricky when he comments on the fact that his tyrannical father doesn't seem to realise that Ricky's money is earned by dealing drugs.

The movie was a great success, both with the critics and at the box office. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Kevin Spacey.
10. This must be the most educational movie ever. It gives no less than three important life lessons. First of all it shows you exactly how you should act when someone takes an drug overdose. Secondly it give a great warning against sloppiness; take good care where you place your precious gold watch. Last but not least it gives great hints on how to clean up a terrible mess in your car. Answer: Pulp Fiction

"Pulp Fiction" is a movie that consists of three separate but interrelated stories, shown out of sequence. A shorter story regarding a diner robbery is shown at the beginning and end of the movie.

In the first story mobster Vincent Vega (John Travolta) is given the assignment to go out with the boss's wife Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) during his absence. After their date Mia takes an overdose of heroin. Vincent has to save Mia's life or suffer the consequences.

In the second story Butch (Bruce Willis), a second rate boxer, double-crosses gangster boss Marcellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) by winning a match he is bribed to lose. When Butch and his girlfriend are ready to flee he discovers she has left his gold watch at home. In a flash-back scene (starring Christopher Walken as Captain Koonz) the viewer is shown why the gold watch is so important to Butch. Butch goes on his way to collect his precious watch but coincidentally runs into Marcellus.

In the third story Vincent and his partner in crime Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) go out to collect a black briefcase (with unknown content). On their way back they accidentally shoot their informer through the head, leaving their car in an awful bloody mess in broad daylight. The two stop at Jimmy's house (cameo role by Quentin Tarentino) and call in William Wolf (Harvey Keitel) to deal with the situation.

The movie was written and directed by Quentin Tarentino. The three wrong answers are all directed by Tarentino, too.
