When she did catch her breath, she actually apologized to Matty for scaring her.

Eve and her father talked for a while after leaving the carriage house and then Eve went back inside the house to get ready for bed. When Cisely asked where she had been, Eve started crying. She told Cisely what she saw. Cisely made up a story that their father and Matty were just leaning on one another laughing about a joke and that Eve mistook it for something more. Later in the movie, Cisely confessed to Eve that she knew about Matty and their father all along.

During one of Eve's strolls through town, she stole a pineapple and ran from the fruit stand claiming that 25 cents was too much for the pineapple. She stopped dead in her tracks and dropped the pineapple when she spotted Elzora, the fortune teller, glaring at her. Each time Elzora saw Eve after that, Elzora called her "Pineapple thief."

After Aunt Mozelle had a vision that one of the children would be hit by a vehicle, their mother locked them inside the house. Eve gets bored an walks into the kitchen to talk to her mother. The other three quotes were said to Eve by Aunt Mozelle during her conversation with Eve about Louis cheating on his wife. Eve tells Aunt Mozelle what she saw in the carriage house and Mozelle wanted to be sure that Eve wouldn't tell anybody else.
