The first part of the movie was in 1914, and when the opening sequence gave way to the main body of the film, we were given the caption, '300 years later'. This would make it 2214. However, the little ticket Korben pulls out from his wall when he wakes up gives the year as 2263.

2. What is the philosophy of General Staedert about the unknown thing in space?

Answer: Shoot first and ask questions later.

He says he doesn't like uninvited guests.

3. How long does the president allow Cornelius for offering his opinion?

Answer: 20 seconds

Not particularly generous, but he did have to make a crucial decision rather soon.

He was right. It expands and consumes the military spacecraft.
