When a man gets too grabby with Thelma, he ends up dead and the girls go on the run, picking up a hitchhiker named J.D. (played by Brad Pitt) who steals all their money. The ladies end up getting chased by the police and make a shocking decision as to how to avoid the cops.

This 2004 surprise hit stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams as the young lovers, Noah and Allie, and James Garner and Gena Rowlands as their older counterparts. Years later they reunite and Allie must decide between her fiancé and Noah - who could be her soul mate.

This movie starred Shirley McLaine and Debra Winger as the mother and daughter and had incredible supporting performances from Jack Nicholson and John Lithgow (all of whom were Oscar nominated, MaClaine and Nicholson won).

A sequal came out 13 years later ("The Evening Star") but did not have as much box office or critical success as the first film.
4. Number 7 is a movie that shows us that love can survive anything... even death. After Sam is killed by a mugger while out with Molly, he tries desperately to get in contact with her, even using a crazy psychic as a go-between.

Answer: Ghost

This 1990 film stars Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg in an Oscar winning performance as psychic Oda Mae Brown. This is a romantic and touching movie and makes you think about pottery in a completely different way...
5. Number 6 takes place in the Catskills during a summer in the '60s, and shows us that even a safe little Daddy's girl can get a guy from the wrong side of the tracks if she learns to do the mambo.

Answer: Dirty Dancing

This movie stars Patrick Swayze as dancer Johnny Castle and Jennifer Grey as innocent Frances "Baby" Houseman. When Johnny's dance partner isn't able to go on, Frances steps in, learns the mambo and wins Johnny's heart. A series of events rip them apart only to have him return triumphantly in the end, announce that "No one puts Baby in a corner" and show off his dancing skills once more.
6. Number 5 involves a sad widower and his precocious son. When he thinks his dad needs to move on, Jonah calls a national radio show to try to find him a date. The sweet father and son catch the attention of Annie, who, though engaged to another man, finds herself drawn to Jonah and his father.

Answer: Sleepless in Seattle

This 1993 film stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as Sam and Annie, two people who meet via the radio. When Sam's son Jonah picks out Annie's letter as the best of the bunch he is determined to get them to meet, even if it means running away. Sam and Annie eventually meet at the top of the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day in what we can only assume is love at first sight.
7. Number 4 answers the age-old question, can men and women really be just friends? From this movie, the answer appears to be "no", as two platonic friends experience the ups and downs of relationships over a fifteen year period - only to realize that love may have been closer than they both thought.

Answer: When Harry Met Sally

This 1989 movie stars Billy Crystal as Harry and Meg Ryan as Sally. They meet after college graduation and form an unlikely friendship as they drive from Chicago to New York. After many years of friendship, and enduring each other's bad relationships and break-ups, it occurs to them that maybe they aren't meant to be just friends.

This is a wonderfully funny movie, plus it has that unforgettable diner scene.
8. Number 3 is an ensemble movie about ladies living in the south and gossipping at a beauty parlor. Some of the characters include a sweet bride-to-be (whose wedding colors are "blush" and "bashful"), the sassy beauty parlor owner and an awkward "glamour technician".

Answer: Steel Magnolias

"Steel Magnolias" (1989) has an incredible cast including Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis and Daryl Hannah. Set in Louisiana, we see these women deal with their daily lives including illness, children, difficult husbands and ultimately loss.
9. Chick Flick number 2 is about a hooker with a heart of gold. When businessman Edward needs a date for some social events, he just picks one up on a Beverly Hills street corner. His date could end up being more as he begins to fall in love, and she realizes he could be the prince she's always been waiting for.

Answer: Pretty Woman

This 1990 movie stars Julia Roberts as Vivian and Richard Gere as Edward. An unlikely pair, the two are adorable as he teaches her about the high-life and she gets him to loosen up. In one of her first big films, Julia Roberts proved she could be a great actress as she played an unlikely role... a loveable hooker. She even earned an Oscar nomination!
10. And the number 1 chick flick (according to E!) is a coming of age story about two girls from different worlds who form a friendship one summer on the beach. They maintain their friendship for years, through marriages, divorces and pregnancy. When one is diagnosed with an incurable disease, their friendship is truly tested as they come to terms with the end of a thirty-year friendship.

Answer: Beaches

"Beaches" (1988) starring Barbara Hershey and Bette Midler, is truly a wonderful movie that will make you both laugh and cry. As friends C.C. (an aspiring entertainer) and Hillary (a debutante) grow up, they keep in touch and eventually live in New York City together, but things turn sour when they both fall for the same man. They eventually part ways only to have their friendship rekindled years later when Hilary really needs a friend. C.C. gives up her all-star career to take care of her best friend in her last days, as the two spend their days at the beach with Hillary's young daughter. Coupled with the movie's theme song, "The Wind Beneath My Wings", I'm surprised anyone can get through this movie without a tissue.

Hope you liked the quiz! Look for parts 1-4 which contain the remaining movies.
