Thomas P. Johnson was a workaholic. As he and his colleague, Jeff Newman, raced their cars along a dark stretch of road, a huge truck came hurtling towards them. Thomas swerved, drove off the road, down an embankment and sadly died. Matthew Modine has been in lots of films, which include "Full Metal Jacket" and "Pacific Heights".

2. The part of Jeff Newman was played by Eric Stoltz.

Eric Stoltz played the part of Jeff Newman, Thomas' colleague and very competitive friend.
Eric has starred in "Mask" and "The Prophecy".

Nancy Travis played the part of Carol, Thomas' wife. Fluke had some muddled memories of his time as a man and he was convinced that his colleague, Jeff, had killed Thomas and was after his wife.

Even as the voice of a dog, Samuel L. Jackson was coolness, personified. There were lots of laughs as he taught young Fluke the ropes and where to hang out for a good feed. Samuel L. Jackson was in "Pulp Fiction" and "The Negotiator" to name but a few.

Ron Perlman was his usual beastly self in this film. He kidnapped dogs for cash then gave them to a laboratory that experimented on animals. He was also in "Alien Resurrection" and, believe it or not, he was The Beast in "Beauty and the Beast", the series with Linda Hamilton.

Boss was puzzled that a call had gone out from his office and looked quizzically at Fluke but shook his head in disbelief. Fluke had a real pang of love, when he heard his wife's voice and he was even more determined to get back to her. Boss was played by John Polito.

Poor old Fluke, the rain was pelting down and he looked so bedraggled and miserable. All the time though, all he could think about, was getting home to his wife and son.

Rumbo made a dramatic entrance and helped Fluke out of his bindings and freed all the other animals in the laboratory. As they were running away, Rumbo was shot by Sylvester but Fluke didn't know that. They eventually stopped at the river and poor old Rumbo died from his wounds. Fluke was bereft but he had to push on to find his wife and son.

Yes, Jeff was very fond of Thomas' wife but Fluke didn't take too kindly to this and growled at him. Carol got annoyed and said that they would have to get rid of Fluke if he was going to be aggressive. She put him out in the cold and Fluke ran off.

Fluke lay in wait in Jeff's car and caused Jeff to have an accident. Fluke and Jeff both got badly hurt. This brought back some other memories to Fluke and he remembered that Jeff was the one who had actually been a good guy and it was himself who hadn't been a very good husband, or father. Fluke licked Jeff's face to bring him round and Jeff told Fluke that Brian had run away and to go and find him. Fluke limped off and found Brian by Thomas' grave. Fluke kept Brian warm until his mum found them. Fluke rubbed the snow from the headstone with his paw, which revealed Thomas' name and it was then that Carol realised that Fluke was Thomas reincarnated. Fluke went on his way after that, as he couldn't possibly stay around.

He was totally unhappy and was sitting by a tree. An acorn hit him on the head and a little squirrel appeared.

It was old Rumbo, reincarnated again. It was a lovely story, but I wept buckets!
