Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A recurring character in many Adam Sandler produced movies, Rob Schneider plays what role in "Grandma's Boy"?

Answer: Alex's landlord

Allen Covert stars as Alex, a video game tester who is forced to move in with his grandma after getting kicked out of his apartment by the landlord Yuri, played by Rob Schneider. Jonathan Loughran, another regular in several Happy Madison productions, plays Alex's roommate Josh who reveals that he is the reason they're getting evicted (after using the rent money on an Asian massage parlor).
2. Which of the following does J.P. NOT say in a robot voice during the movie?

Answer: After you my lady

You might recognize J.P., played by Joel Moore, from the movie "Dodgeball" as one of the Average Joe's team members. In "Grandma's Boy", 'after you my lady' is one of many cheesy lines J.P. uses as part of his pickup charm on Samantha (played by Linda Cardellini who also stars in "Scooby Doo" as Velma).

As for the other lines, many times throughout the movie J.P. speaks in a robot voice as an anti-social defense mechanism. As Alex passes through the hallway at work, out of nowhere he hears J.P. tell him, 'I hate your face.' He says this as he pretends to cloak himself against the wall with his black leather jacket...wondering if anyone will see him, though his visibility is as clear as day.

The line, 'delusional ducks from "Fantasy Island"', is said by J.P. as he talks random jibberish to himself while riding his scooter in his completely white interior office. The line, 'Samantha you will be mine', is said by J.P. during the same scene as he mentally plots his next pick-up strategy on her.
3. What brand name beverage does Mr. Cheezle have on the table for the video game testers during a meeting?

Answer: Vitamin water

It took a few times watching the movie before noticing this overlooked prop. At the time the movie was released Vitamin Water was a popular beverage.

Mr. Cheezle's tea is used in the first meeting he has with Samantha. In this scene she takes a sip, finds it disgusting, and quickly spits it back into the tea cup before Mr. Cheezle sees her do it. Mr. Cheezle is played by Kevin Nealon, whose most notable Happy Madison role is a cameo in "Happy Gilmore".

Mountain Dew is often thought of as a popular soda beverage of choice among many room dwellers who partake in such activities as interactive online games and role-playing board games. Dr. Pepper just seems like an obscure acquired taste much like Root Beer, both of which could qualify under the taster's choice for the digital generation.
4. Of the following animals, which one does Dante NOT get at some point in the movie?

Answer: tiger

Dante gets a lion to protect his stuff, because after all a lion is the king of the jungle. Dante, played by Peter Dante, is also a Happy Madison productions regular. Unfortunately, this does not work out and the lion gets loose in the neighborhood, causing a scare that makes the local news. Later in the movie, Dante buys a monkey to help protect his stuff. Dante has an assistant, Dr. Shakalu, who translates to Mr. Lee Ho to train the monkey in judo. In the last scene of the movie, Dante gets an elephant.

The monkey plays a significant role, driving a heavily sedated Alex and Dante to the office to see Alex's grandma beat JP at the game he stole from Alex. When Alex discovers that J.P. deceived him and is trying to steal his video game idea ("Demonic") at a team meeting, Mr. Cheezle sides with J.P. and not Alex. This prompts Alex to quit the company and go over to Dante's. Meanwhile, Samantha discovers Alex's grandma, Lilly, has played Alex's game and uses this leverage to have Lilly challenge J.P. at "Demonic" in front of Mr. Cheezle in order to prove that it was Alex's game all along.
5. Who says "My beef strong!"?

Answer: Dr. Shakalu

In response to Dr. Shakalu's loud, musical interruption at the party, Dante responds with "your beef wrong!" Dr. Shakalu is the comic relief to the already established comic relief of Dante throughout the movie.
6. What game are all the testers working on to meet the release deadline?

Answer: Eternal Death Slayer III

"Demonic" is the game Alex develops on his own, but J.P. tried to pass off as his own idea. "Eternal Death Slayer" is the first video game that J.P. designed at the age of 12...making him a sort of a prodigy as stated by Mr. Cheezle. There is very likely an "Eternal Death Slayer II" but it is not mentioned in the movie. When Mr. Cheezle first introduces J.P. to Samantha, he confirms that everything they say about him being a prodigy is true. In fact, J.P. tells Samantha he beat the "Legend of Zelda" before he learned to walk.

The current project the testers are working on is "Eternal Death Slayer III". In one scene Kane (one of the testers) calls it "Eternal Death Slayer". J.P. is so sensitive to such a mislabel that he immediately corrects Kane by saying it is called "Eternal Death Slayer III" or even "EDS III".
7. Jeff mentions Grace has been around long enough to witness the airplane, first man on the moon, Vietnam War, Snoop Dogg.

Answer: false

Jeff (played by comedian Nick Swardson) actually says Grace has been around long enough to witness the automobile, World War I, World War II, Tupac. You might recognize Nick Swardson from his roles in other comedies ("Reno 911: Miami", "Blades of Glory" and "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry").
8. What is the name of the company that Alex and the testers work at?

Answer: Brainasium

You can see the company name and logo of Brainasium in Mr. Cheezle's office throughout the movie. Mr. Cheezle also mentions the company name in his first meeting with Samantha.
9. What is the name of Alex's grandma's former roommate who dies at the side of the bed that Alex is going to sleep in?

Answer: Sophie

In remembrance of Sophie, Alex's three roommates (Bea, Grace, and Lilly who is Alex's grandma) have a drink of tea together that turns out to have quite a kick.
10. Which video game is NOT shown as being played by anyone in the movie?

Answer: Galaga

"Galaga" is shown in the opening credits, but is not actually shown as being played by anyone in the movie. Timmy challenges Alex to "Frog Bog" but doesn't stand a chance...losing to the mighty grey bush (Alex). One of the testers challenges Jeff to "Dance Dance Revolution" (a brand new game for Brainasium retail)...but to the tester's surprise, he loses miserably despite his cool Woody Allen jacket. Alex's grandma beats J.P. at "Demonic" to prove it is Alex's game by showing she has played it before (that is whenever she pries herself away from watching "Antiques Road Show" back at home).
