As Halloran was riding away on the bus, he saw Lesley-Anne Down's character writhe in pain. He immediately jumped off of the bus, thinking that she was going into labor. As he approached her, she stood straight up and told him that it looked like he had missed his bus. Halloran then walked away, slowly dragging his foot behind him.

The nurse felt guilty and approached him, but as she did, he began to prance about the street. He then asked her out for coffee, at which point she told him that she did not drink coffee, she preferred tea.

Answer: That she was wearing a wedding ring.

After he accidentally pulled off her glove, Halloran noticed that she had a wedding ring on. Regardless of his observation, he told her that he would have a day off on the following Thursday and that he would wait all day on Hanover Street for her. She said that she would not be there, however, the following Thursday, curiosity got the better of her and she went to see Halloran again.

Answer: Heavy

2nd Lieutenant Jerry Cimino was a very neurotic bomber gunner who often spoke nonsensical things for comic relief. As they were taking off from the ground for one of their missions, he said: "You know these things are made of metal right? Did you ever try and pick one up? You can't, you know why? Because it's made of metal and metal is heavy. You don't believe me? Just try and pick one up, you'll wrench your back, that's what you'll do. Air isn't heavy, this pilot junk is heavy, it's heavier than air, much heavier, don't ya see? This thing is not supposed to be up in the air! I hate these things." Cimino's paranoia and humour often made the bombing runs far less scary and tense for Halloran and the other crew members.

As Halloran spent more and more time with the English nurse, however, the more he became a worrier like Cimino.

Since their first meeting, David Halloran tried to learn the name of the woman who had stolen his heart. After several weeks of romance, she turned to him one evening in bed and told him: "I love you, my name is Margaret", to which Halloran replied "No kidding." He was surprised by both the fact that she loved him and by the fact that she finally told him his name.

Even before the mission, Halloran's usual crew members noticed a transformation in him. They noticed how he went from being a reckless flyboy, to being concerned about safety. The final transformation was when Halloran thought that he heard something wrong with his engine and he turned back to base because of it.

The gauges even said that the engine was working fine. Command of the mission was then given to another plane which was destroyed when a round of artillery struck the unopened bomb-bay, detonating the bombs within. Halloran felt guilty after learning that the plane put in his place was destroyed. Halloran later confessed to Margaret that before he met her, he wasn't afraid to be a hero, but he was now scared of dying because he actually had something to lose.

Answer: To retrieve a document containing the names of British double agents.

Sellinger volunteered to take on the mission because his two best operatives had already been killed due to a leak, and a new one whom he was training was not deemed skilled enough to carry it out. He also wanted to prove to both himself and his wife that he was more than just a "pleasant", boring person. It was unbeknownst to Halloran at the time that Sellinger's wife was the very same woman he, too, had fallen in love with.

The flight did not go exactly as planned because German artillery began bombarding the plane. 2nd Lieutenant Cimino, 2nd Lieutenant Hyer, and two unnamed characters were killed in the attack. Halloran and Sellinger successfully abandoned the plane before it exploded.

Answer: A receipt of delivery.

Doing a perfect impersonation of a Nazi colonel, Paul Sellinger successfully dropped off the letter from General Wallheim and received his requested receipt. He got the receipt for delivery so he could have an excuse to return to the base and complete his mission. Sellinger also used that time to scout out the location for his and Halloran's planned return. Sellinger noted the amount of security within the building and he also noticed that the safe in which the mission documents were being kept in was of a different model than the one that he had planned for.

Answer: He could not speak German so he reacted improperly to a German soldier's question.

As Paul Sellinger dealt with the document situation, Halloran was left to wait behind in the main area of the room. There, another soldier was also waiting. He offered Halloran a cigarette and unfortunately for Halloran, the soldier was also in a talking mood. Halloran reacted to all of the soldier's sentences based on how the soldier reacted to them. If the soldier laughed after saying something, Halloran also laughed.

After minutes of tension, Halloran laughed at a serious question from the soldier.

The improper reaction revealed that Halloran was not German. Halloran knocked the man out and Paul Sellinger held the document-keeper up at gun-point before taking some photos of the important documents. As the unconscious Nazis were discovered, Halloran and Sellinger made their successful and daring escape.

Answer: He was shot in the back.

Running from the attacking Germans, Sellinger was shot in the back with a machine gun. As he fell on his stomach, he beckoned Halloran to save himself and to leave him behind. Halloran, placed in a difficult position knowing that Sellinger was the husband of his beloved Margaret, decided to go back and save him.

The two men were greeted by the helpful resistance fighters in France and then sent back to Britain. Their mission was a success!

After making it back to London, Margaret's husband was placed into a hospital to be treated for the wound that he sustained whilst escaping France. When Margaret heard the news that he was safe, she immediately ran to the hospital. As she was entering the ward, she saw David Halloran who was leaving the hospital. Halloran told Margaret that he loved her enough to let her go and that she should go to get him while he walks away.

He then said that he would think of her anytime he would drink tea. She listened and let him go before she went into her husband's hospital room. Exeunt, as a lone David Halloran walked out onto Hanover Street, cigarette in hand waiting for another bus.
