Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Guarding the gate is a vicious lion. While you think you may know how to get past him, take into account that he killed his own brother to take over the throne. Who is this villain?

Answer: Scar

Scar is the villain from "The Lion King" (1994). He is the brother of Mufasa. Mufasa is the lion king and Scar is jealous that he isn't the one who rules. When Simba is born Scar knows he had to do something or he will never get the throne. So he kills Mufasa and forces Simba to leave Pride Rock, where the lions live.

Then he seizes the throne. However Simba comes back to challenge Scar's place as king and a large battle ensues. Simba triumphs, however it is not he who kills Scar. Scar makes a mistake when he falsely accuses the hyenas of being the real enemy.

The Hyenas get revenge by killing Scar. Simba goes on to become king.
2. You haven't made it very far before you come across a pirate with a nasty-looking hook on his right hand. While he might not object to you joining his crew, he may gut you if you make a wrong move. Who is this villain?

Answer: Captain Hook

Captain Hook is the nemesis of Peter Pan. He has been in many films and plays about Peter Pan, one of which is in 2003 when he was portrayed by Jason Isaacs.
Captain Hook has been seeking revenge against Peter Pan after Peter cut off Hook's right hand. In the Disney version of "Peter Pan" (1953) and the film "Hook" (1991) Captain Hook is missing his left hand. This is incorrect, however Walt Disney thought that if Hook's right hand was missing he would lose too much movement and therefore switched it to his left hand.
3. The next villain you come across is known as the White Witch. But can you remember her true name?

Answer: Jadis

The White Witch is the villain in the movie "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" (2005) and is portrayed by Tilda Swinton. She rules Narnia and cast a spell so that it would be forever winter but never Christmas in Narnia. When Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy stumble across Narnia, the White Witch knows that her rule will be challenged and seeks to kill them, before the prophesy is carried out.

She succeeds in killing the mighty lion, Aslan, only to have him return the next day, after she over-looked part of the Deep Magic.

In the final battle between her army and Peter's she is defeated by Aslan.
4. Let's hope you've learnt how to deal with pirates because now you come across another one. He is the well-known captain of the Flying Dutchman and is supposed to ferry the souls of those lost at sea to the next world. Who is he?

Answer: Davy Jones

Portrayed by Bill Nighy, Davy Jones is the octopus-like captain of the Flying Dutchman. He and his crew are cursed after he stops performing his duty and as a result he and his crew are transformed into mutated creatures that are half sea-creature and half man. Davy Jones once previously loved the goddess of the sea, Calypso.

However when she broke his heart he couldn't live with the pain so he cut his heart out and placed it in a chest (the Dead Man's Chest). He then hid it on an island so it would never be recovered.

It was he who suggested binding Calypso to a human form. He controls the kraken until Lord Beckett finds Davy Jones' heart.
5. You're lost. You see someone in front and foolishly ask for their help. But this mutant won't stand to help someone normal like yourself. Can you name this metal-controlling mutant?

Answer: Magneto

Magneto is the villain from the comic book series "X-Men". In 2000, the first film in the trilogy "X-Men", based on the comic books, was released. Ian McKellen plays the role of Magneto. Magneto is a Jewish survivor of the holocaust war. He fights against normal humans because he believes that mutants will be treated the same as the Jews were in the holocaust war.

He has the ability to control and manipulate metal. He wears a helmet to protect his mind from being attacked by those with Telepathy, such as Professor Xavier and Jean Grey.
6. You run into a villain who is a cat of a different kind. This master thief isn't really a cat but she has similarities to one. She is in love with the hero but he can never love her as she is a criminal. Who is this catty criminal?

Answer: Catwoman

Catwoman has been portrayed quite a few times however the Catwoman I'm talking about is the one portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in "Batman Returns" (1992). Her alter ego is Selina Kyle. Selina becomes Catwoman when her boss attempts to kill her, to prevent her from revealing his plot to steal Gotham City's electricity, go wrong.

While she is in love with Batman, he can never feel the same way about her, because she is a criminal and Batman cannot love criminals.
7. Oh no, you've come face-to-face with a villain that has haunted a particular children's book. Now this pale, bald and red-eyed villain has made his way to the big screen and he has no intention of letting you pass easily. Can you name this villain who is "As bad as you can go"?

Answer: Lord Voldemort

Voldemort is the ever powerful and evil villain from the "Harry Potter" franchise. Starting out as a book villain, his evil spreads to the big screen when "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" was released in 2001. He has been portrayed by several actors.

In "Philosopher's Stone" (2001), he is portrayed by Richard Bremmer, In "Chamber of Secrets" (2002) he is played by Christian Coulson. In this movie he goes by his old name, Tom Riddle, in order to gain the trust of Ginny and Harry. In "Goblet of Fire" (2005), "Order of the Phoenix" (2007) Voldemort is shown in his true form for the first time and is portrayed by Ralph Fiennes. Voldemort is one of my favourite villains and there's just too much to say about him so I won't say it all. I'll just give a description of him.

In the book Voldemort is described with red eyes however in the films (except for the first one), David Heyman thought that if his eyes were red and snake-like then the emotion wouldn't be shown as well, so they are blue in the films.

He is bald and has slits for a nose, very much like a snake. His skin is very pale and his body is thin and skeletal-like. He is also described as having unnaturally long fingers. However before these unnatural qualities, he was described to be quite handsome, like his father. The transformation to his current state is most likely due to the creation of his horcruxes (a person's soul that has been ripped in half). As he created more horcruxes his body became less human.
8. I bet you thought things couldn't get any worse. Unfortunately for you the adventure isn't over yet. Now you come across a villain who is more machine than man. He was swayed to the dark side after he was offered the powers to protect the one he loved. Who do you think he is?

Answer: Darth Vader

Darth Vader is the villain from the "Star Wars" saga. He is seen in "A New Hope" (1977), "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980), "Return of the Jedi" (1983) and at the end of "Revenge of the Sith" (2005). In the sequels he is played by David Prowse but voiced by James Earl Jones. Once a Jedi named Anakin Skywalker, he was swayed to the dark side when he met Emperor/Senator Palpatine. Since then he has been the head enforcer of the Galactic Empire's rule.

He uses the powers of the Sith to hunt down and destroy the Jedi and Rebel Alliance.
9. You're almost out but someone is barring the doorway. This former "angel" is an accomplished athlete and gymnast. She is now a self-employed terrorist and assassin. There's no way she's going to let you go without a fight. Can you guess who she is?

Answer: Madison Lee

Madison Lee is the villain/antagonist of "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" (2003) and is played by Demi Moore. She was a former angel until her near-fatal injury that she wasn't expected to survive. Since then she has gone rogue. In "Full Throttle" she stages a plan to obtain both HALO rings which contain the information of every person in the Witness Protection Program.

She goes up against the current angels when they continually interfere in her plan and a climatic battle ensues between them.
10. You finally escape the house, only to be confronted by one more villain. This transforming leader of the Decepticons is much too large to fit in the house. He was originally in a cartoon until 2008 when he was created as a live-action villain. Who is he?

Answer: Megatron

Megatron is the villain from the TV series "Transformers", which later became a live-action film in 2007. He is the leader of the Decepticons from the planet Cybertron and the main antagonist. He is constantly at war with Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots as each have different goals.

While the Autobots are fighting to protect Earth, the Decepticons are fighting to destroy it. In the 2007 film, Megatron is the only one not to take on the form of a vehicle from Earth. While the others take the forms of cars, planes trucks or helicopters, Megatron's transformation is alien.
