Answer: A toy shark and sword

Josh had just come home from work. He gave Foster a bag of plastic toys and told him to share with his brother. While the rest of the family was in the living room, Dalton was on the stairs playing. He was stabbing the toy shark with the toy sword. As Dalton continued to play, the door to the attic behind him opened up. Dalton heard the door open and went to investigate the attic. Dalton climbed a ladder in the attic; he was trying to turn the attic light on. Dalton climbed the rungs of the ladder but when he got a few steps up the rung broke. Dalton fell to the floor.

He seemed confused at first. Dalton turned and looked into the darkness of the attic. It appeared as if he saw something coming at him. Dalton then screamed and his parents raced to the attic.

They both forbid Dalton to go exploring in the attic anymore.

Answer: He was afraid when Dalton walked around at night.

Renai, Foster's mom, was in his bedroom picking up after him. Renai saw an award Foster had gotten earlier that day at school. He had forgotten to show his parents the award. Renai felt bad because she had been devoting much of her time to Dalton. She told her son that the award was fantastic. Renai told Foster she was going to show his dad the award as well. Foster asked Renai if he could move rooms.

He told his mom he didn't like it when Dalton walked around at night. This was odd because Dalton had been in what the doctors thought was a coma for three months.

Answer: monkeys and bananas

Renai had woken up early and gone downstairs. She was wearing the pajamas with the monkeys with bananas on them. Renai went into the living room which was full of boxes. The family had just moved into their new home. Renai was going through a box marked Renai's books and found a photo album in the box. Renai sat down on the floor to look at the album. Dalton came downstairs and told his mother he could not sleep. Dalton was wearing pajamas with the same design as his mother's.

She had him sit on her lap and they looked at the photo album together. Dalton asked his mom to show him pictures of his dad when Josh was younger.

His mom told him that she didn't have any of him. The reason for no pictures of Josh was explained later on in the film.

Leigh played the role of Specs in the film. He along with Tucker were assistants to Elise. Specs and Tucker were constantly bickering over whose job was more important. Elise would use Specs to communicate what she saw or heard from the entities in the home. Specs would write down or draw what Elise described to him. In one scene, Elise had just entered Dalton's room to look around. Josh, Renai, Tucker, and Specs accompanied her into Dalton's bedroom. Specs was getting ready to turn on the light and Elise told him to leave it off. Elise was talking to Dalton when she looked up onto his bedroom ceiling. She called Specs over to write down what she saw on the ceiling. She was talking extremely fast, and Specs had to ask her to slow down a few times. Specs drew the red faced demon that was trying to possess Dalton.

Leigh Whannell has had a number of parts in films he has written. Besides "Insidious", he was in "Saw" and "Insidious, Chapter 2".

Renai was sitting at the piano. She was playing the piano while singing. Renai sang a few lines and then would write the lyrics down. In one scene, Renai asked Josh if he had seen her sheet music. Josh told her he knew they had packed it. Later on, after they found Dalton in the attic, Renai found her boxed sheet music there. Later that night, Renai thanked Josh for letting her work on her music.

She told him she thought some of her songs were pretty good. Several months later, Dalton was still in a coma. Renai was again sitting at the piano this time she was not writing or singing.

She was preoccupied with what was going on with Dalton. The baby monitor was sitting on top of the piano. Renai started to hear what at first was static coming from the monitor.

She heard more distinct voices coming from the monitor. The voice suddenly screamed from the monitor and the baby started to cry. Renai ran upstairs to her daughter's room. There was no one in the room, but you could tell Renai was shaken.

Answer: Josh kept pulling a gray hair out of his head.

Josh was in the bathroom brushing his teeth. He looked into the mirror and saw the gray hair had returned. He pulled the hair out and examined it between his fingers. He was clearly very upset over the return of the gray hair. Later while Josh and Renai were preparing for bed, Josh was applying cream around the sides of his eyes. Renai and Josh were lying in bed; they were talking about their day. Renai was telling Josh about her songs.

He told her to write some songs about him. He was telling in a sing song kind of voice that she should talk about his big muscles and that he was really really pretty. Renai held her hand over his mouth so you only heard some of the words.

Answer: Renai found a bloody hand print on Dalton's sheet.

Dalton's nurse and Renai were talking about Dalton's progress. He had recently had some tests done and Renai was inquiring about the results. The nurse told her that they hadn't come back yet. The nurse started to fix Dalton's covers and Renai told her she would get it. Renai got up and started to fix the blankets when she noticed the blood.

She straightened out the sheet and saw it was a bloody hand print. It was an elongated print that had pointed fingers on it. Renai sat on her house's front porch waiting for Josh to come home.

She told Josh the house was haunted and then dropped the sheet on him so he could see it.

Answer: The little ghost boy

The family had just moved from the house Renai believed was haunted. Renai had put on a record while she was doing chores in their new home. She went into Foster's room and cleaned chips off the bed. As she walked to the kitchen, she passed through the laundry room and there was the little ghost standing in the room. Renai did not notice him on her way to the kitchen.

She placed the crumbs from the chips in the trashcan. Renai took the trash outside to dispose of it. While she walked outside the record she put on was changed to "Tiptoe Through the Tulips". Renai looked inside the window and saw the little ghost boy dancing to the record.

She quickly walked back into the house, but the boy was gone. She walked down the hall of her home and saw the boy standing at the end of the hallway.

He ran into Dalton's room and hid in his wardrobe. The ghost boy jumped out of the wardrobe and frightened Renai. Renai was upset because she believed that moving from the other would stop the haunting.

Answer: Lorraine

Lorraine was Josh's mother. She was comforting Renai after the incident with the ghost boy. Josh had returned home from work to find Renai with his mom and a priest. Renai told Josh that the ghost had followed them to this house. Renai was clearly upset because she thought Josh did not believe her about the hauntings.

After the priest left, the three of them sat down at the dining room table. Lorraine told Renai and Josh she had a dream about their house the night before. She told them she knew she was asleep, but someone was awake.

She first went to Josh and Renai's room and she found them asleep. She then went to Dalton's room and that is where she saw the intruder. She asked the intruder what he wanted and he pointed at Dalton. While Lorraine told the story to her son and daughter-in-law, she saw the face of the demon behind Josh.

Answer: Tucker saw two ghost girls smiling at him beside the grandfather clock.

Tucker was explaining to Renai and Josh that a great deal of the equipment he used was his own design. He was showing them a device that read the changes in UV light. Specs told them that the device was basically a modified toy. Tucker and Specs bickered back and forth for a few moments over that comment. Tucker asked them to leave the room so he could concentrate. Tucker went through the bedroom with no readings of any kind.

He went into the hallway where he saw the two girls by the clock. The two girls were smiling at him in a devil may care way. Tucker walked back into the room where Josh and the other two were sitting, Tucker told Specs no need to wait any longer before they called Elise.
