Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which city did the invasion take place?

Answer: Santa Mira

The city name is mentioned several times in the movie, but I couldn't find evidence if it was a real town. Either way, real or fictional, Santa Mira, California was also the setting of "Halloween III: Season of the Witch".
In this small town, people were being replicated by seeds from outer space. This was explained late into the movie by Dr. Kaufman. In the 1978 remake, San Francisco was the setting.
2. During their conversation, Becky Driscoll and Dr. Miles Bennell revealed they'd both recently spent time in Reno, Nevada. What were they doing there?

Answer: getting a divorce

The tone of their relationship was set when Dr. Bennell (actor Kevin McCarthy) and nurse Sally were on their way back from the airport. She told Miles that Becky (actress Dana Wynter) was back from Europe, and their exchange revealed that he and Becky had a past. He still thought that Becky was married, which he also discussed with Sally.
Later, as Miles and Becky left his office, they both discussed their time in Reno. Becky told Miles that she was sorry to hear it, and he said that he was too, he'd hoped it would work out. Becky's home from London (and Reno), and living with her father. Miles told her it was like they were now lodge brothers, only he paid dues and she collected them. That was a small joke about alimony.
Donald Sutherland played Matthew Bennell in the remake, and Brooke Adams played Elizabeth Driscoll.
3. Who was the little boy that Miles almost ran over, on the way back from the airport?

Answer: Jimmy

Jimmy ran right out in front of the car as it was passing his family's vegetable stand. Jimmy's mother claimed he was scared to attend school, but she was not being honest. Later, little Jimmy Grimaldi's grandmother brought him into the doctor's office. Jimmy said he was scared that the woman he lived with was no longer his mother.

As Miles narrated over the scenes, he mentioned that Grimaldi's vegetable stand was thriving just a month earlier. It was now closed down completely, which should have alarmed him, but he ignored his gut instinct.
4. Becky's cousin Wilma wanted Miles to examine their uncle. She was sure that he was no longer her real uncle. What was this uncle's first name?

Answer: Ira

Wilma Lentz lived with her aunt and uncle, Ira and Eleda Lentz. She explained to Miles that Ira had always looked at her with a warmth, as though she were special. And, while he had all the right memories, all of the feelings were replaced with the pretense of warmth. At this point, Miles placated her and said the problem was in her head.
5. Why did Jack Belecic have Sally interrupt Miles at the Sky Terrace?

Answer: he had a body on his pool table

Miles and Becky went to Sky Terrace to have dinner, and they found the place almost empty. The owner, and bartender, told the couple it had been that way for over two weeks. It had also been two weeks that Miles was away at a medical convention, and the same time frame that Dr. Danny Kaufman told Miles a mass hysteria had developed in town. When Becky and Miles arrived at the Belecic residence, they found a man lying on the pool table.

His features were smooth, as no character lines had formed, and he had no fingerprints.

The body eventually turned into Jack Belecic, after Jack had fallen asleep.
6. After Miles dropped Becky off at her father's home, did Jack and Teddy awaken him in the middle of the night?

Answer: Yes

Earlier in the evening, Miles and Jack agreed to hold off reporting the pool table body to the police. Jack would watch the body, and if nothing happened he'd call the police in the morning. If something did happen, he'd call Miles. Jack and Teddy fell asleep, though, and when Teddy woke up a bit later, she saw the body had transformed into her husband.

She and Jack quickly made their way to Miles' house.
7. How many seed pods did Miles, Jack, Teddy, and Becky find inside Miles' greenhouse?

Answer: 4

There was a pod inside there for each of them. Based on all that happened after this scene, these four were the last residents that remained human. It's decided that Jack and Teddy would make a run for help, while Miles and Becky would stay behind to try to phone for help.

It did not take long for Miles and Becky to decide to drive away as well, but not before Miles drove a pitch fork into the pod likeness of himself.
8. We found out which make of car Miles drove, while he and Becky tried to escape their town. It was a 1955 black and white sedan, made by which manufacturer?

Answer: Ford

Car buffs could probably recognize the make and model of the car without being told what it was, but I could not tell. It is talked about at least twice on the police radios. During their escape attempt, Miles pulled into a gas station and asked for two gallons of gas. The pumps had ethyl written on them, and the signs advertised it for 23-26 cents per gallon!
9. Who was the last townie to be turned into a pod person?

Answer: Becky

Miles and Becky were caught inside his office. Jack lead Dr. Kaufman to them, as he and Teddy were caught and turned some time in the night. Miles and Becky escaped once again, and ran into the mountains to hide. They did successfully hide in a tunnel, but Becky fell asleep and was finally turned into an emotionless pod person.

It was sleeping that left you vulnerable. During your sleep, the pod being absorbed your memories. Becky fought the urge to sleep for as long as she could.
10. During the movie, Miles narrated the story for another medical staff. After he completed the tale, was his story ever believed?

Answer: Yes

The movie started off with a hysterical Dr. Miles Bennell inside another town hospital. He tried to convince that medical staff that his story about Santa Mira was true. After we'd seen the entire story take place, the scene shifted back to Miles. No one believed Miles at all, until another man was brought in.

The person who witnessed the new man's rescue, explained he'd been found on the highway outside of Santa Mira, covered in what appeared to be giant seed pods. The medical staff turned back to Miles, realized he was being truthful, and called out for help to report the story.
