Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which musician was featured on the soundtrack of a mid 1980's "Friday the 13th" flick, and appeared in an early 1990's "Nightmare on Elm Street" flick?

Answer: Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper appeared on the soundtrack for "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives", and played Freddy's stepfather in "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare".
2. Robert Shaye, the producer of the "Nightmare" series, has appeared in a few Freddy movies. Can you tell me which one he appeared in as a Principal?

Answer: Freddy vs. Jason

Bob Shaye played the teacher who teaches about the dream gates in "Nightmare 4", he plays himself in "Wes Craven's New Nightmare", and he has a brief appearance as the principal in the newest flick, "Freddy vs. Jason".
3. Who is the only actor to have donned Jason's hockey mask for more than one movie?

Answer: Kane Hodder

Kane played Jason the first time in "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood", and reprised the role in "Jason Takes Manhattan" "Jason Goes To Hell" and "Jason X". Unfortunately, he was not cast in "Freddy vs. Jason." C.J. Graham played Jason in Part 6, Richard Brooker played him in Part 3, and Warrington Gilette played him in Part 2.
4. "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors" featured two actors who went on the big success, Lawrence Fishburne and Patricia Arquette. However, it also was the second effort of one of the premier screenwriters of today, a man who has been nominated for two Academy Awards. Who was that writer?

Answer: Frank Darabont

Frank Darabont started his career writing "B" horror movies, such as "The Blob" and "The Fly II". He has since gone on to receive Academy Award nominations for "The Green Mile" as well as "The Shawshank Redemption". He shared screenwriting credits with three other men for his work on "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3".
5. Which "Friday the 13th" movie featured the first appearance of Tommy Jarvis, the only person (besides Jason) to survive more than one installment of the "Friday" series?

Answer: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

The role of Tommy Jarvis was played by a young Corey Feldman in the fourth installment of the series, and was reprised by John Shephard in Part 5, and by Thom Matthews in Part 6. In truth, Tommy only faced Jason twice, though he appeared in 3 Friday movies. In Part 5, "A New Beginning", a copycat killer wields the machete.
6. Krueger and Voorhees: The "21 Jump Street" Connection: We all know that Johnny Depp made his memorable blood gushing appearance in the original "A Nightmare on Elm Street," but which "Friday" movie also prominently featured a "Jump Street" alum?

Answer: Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday

Steven Williams played the bounty hunter Creighton Duke in "Jason Goes To Hell", as well as Captain Adam Fuller in the 1987-1992 Fox cop series alongside Depp. Williams makes many showings in "B" horror movies nowadays, including the newly released "DarkWolf" where he is killed by a deranged super werewolf played by none other than Kane Hodder.
7. Which movie studio owns both franchise's?

Answer: New Line Cinema

New Line Cinema acquired the rights to the "Friday the 13th" series after Part VIII, when Paramount dropped the flicks. The "Nightmare" series originated at New Line, and in fact was one of the major reasons why New Line became one of the largest studios in Hollywood today.
8. How many "Nightmare" movies was Wes Craven intimately associated with?

Answer: 3

Wes Craven wrote and directed both the original "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". He also shared screenplay credit with Bruce Wagner, Chuck Russell and Frank Darabont for "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors".
9. What was the name of dream suppresant drug featured in both "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3" and the new movie "Freddy vs. Jason"?

Answer: Hypnocil

Hypnocil was described as an experimental drug that inhibited dreaming, thus keeping the children safe from Krueger's intrusions. Use of this drug effectively ran Freddy out of Springwood by the beginning of the newest flick.
10. And finally, who produced both the original "Friday the 13th" and this summer's "Freddy vs. Jason"?

Answer: Sean Cunningham

Sean Cunningham also directed the original "Friday the 13th", as well as "Jason Goes to Hell" and "Jason X". "Jason vs. Freddy" isn't the first time Cunningham has produced one of Craven's horrific creations, however. Wes's first movie, the chilling "Last House on the Left", was also produced by Sean Cunningham.
