Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Kirk Cameron, of "Growing Pains" fame, plays Buck Williams, the main character in the film. In the "Left Behind" book, Buck is a journalist with "Global Weekly", a news magazine. What is his job in the movie?

Answer: GNN Television Journalist

Cameron 'Buck' Williams is a magazine writer in the "Left Behind" novel, but the producers of the film decided that having him in the role of a reporter/news anchor/journalist was better for the screen. Having Buck out in the field reporting things live, or being the friendly news anchor face was much better for pacing and was better visually on the big screen than having Buck sit at a desk and write articles.
2. Kirk Cameron's wife, Chelsea Noble, is also in the film; what role does she play?

Answer: Hattie Durham

Harriet 'Hattie' Durham is the flight attendant who (almost) pulls pilot Rayford Steele into an extramarital affair. She accepts a position with the United Nations early in the story, which allows Steele an in for getting the job of Nicolae Carpathia's pilot.

Chloe Steele, Rayford's daughter, is played by Janaya Stephens.

Irene Steele, the wife of Rayford, is played by Christie MacFayden.

Ivy Gold, Buck's personal assistant, is played by Krista Bridges.
3. Captain Rayford Steele gets called in to cover an emergency need for a pilot on a flight...from where to where?

Answer: New York to London

It is during this overnight flight that the rapture occurs, with many people on the plane disappearing - leaving everything (including clothing) behind. On the same flight with Rayford Steele (played by Brad Johnson) are Hattie Durham (senior flight attendant) and Buck Williams (GNN tele-journalist).

Interesting tidbit: Jack and Rexella Van Impe, who have a television show that discusses the end times, make a cameo on the plane - they are among those who are raptured.
4. After the mysterious disappearances, Captain Steele manages to return safely to US soil. After he returns home, he discovers that every one of his family members has also disappeared.

Answer: False

Despite the flight being originally from New York to London, the disappearances throw things into enough chaos that Rayford is only able to put down in Chicago (his actual home city). He is able to go home, and lets Buck Williams crash at his place until the next day.

Rayford's wife Irene and their son Raymie (Rayford, Jr.) had both been true believers and had been raptured. Their daughter Chloe, like Rayford himself, has paid lip service to their professed faith, and has been left behind. At first, Rayford thought that he was entirely alone; Chloe did not manage to get home (she had been on the way to university) until the next morning.
5. Needing to get to New York City, Buck bids on a private pilot and his plane against a large crowd. Able to offer $25,000, Buck quiets the unruly crowd. What is the name of the pilot that Buck hires?

Answer: Ken Ritz

Pilot Ken Ritz is played by Neil Crone. In discussing the mysterious disappearances, Ken expresses his belief that it was aliens that were the cause of the disappearances. He and Buck also discuss the other theories that have been bandied about, including the possibility of a biblical rapture.
6. The voice of reason being broadcast around the world, purporting peace and disarmament in this time of confusion, comes from Nicolae Carpathia. Of which country is he president?

Answer: Romania

Nicolae's rise to power has been quick, and almost unbelievable. His charm and charisma woo others into believing his words, and his call for peace and working towards feeding every mouth on the planet jump him from the presidency of Romania into the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Nicolae Carpathia is played by Gordon Currie, whose acting portrays a subtle evil that really captures the character of the antichrist.
7. In exchange for Chaim Rosenzweig's Eden formula (which can get wheat to grow virtually anywhere), Carpathia promises to rebuild Herod's temple.

Answer: False

While Herod did have a temple built during his reign, the temple mentioned in the movie as God's Temple is Solomon's Temple, which was the first temple built to God in Jerusalem. Pastor Bruce, Rayford Steele, Chloe Steele and Buck Williams are discussing events as they unfold, including information Buck got from one of his sources, and one of the things they talk about is how the Temple must be rebuilt as one of the signs of the end times.

2 Thessalonians 2:3,4 (NIV) - "Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God."
8. What are the names of the two power players who have funded Carpathia's rise to power, and are the owners of the ten tracts of land to be developed as a world food supply?

Answer: Jonathan Stonegal and Joshua Cothran

Stonegal and Cothran are played by Daniel Pilon and Tony De Santis. They supposedly have orchestrated everything, including Carpathia's rise to power. They own the tracts of land that are to be developed by the Eden formula, which will allow them to control the world's food supply. Unbeknownst to them, however, the real power behind everything is Nicolae himself - the antichrist.
9. At the UN, who informed Buck that there would be an announcement that would herald the beginning of seven years of peace with Israel?

Answer: Nicolae Carpathia

Buck Williams had come to New York to warn his friend Chaim Rosenzweig of the duplicity of Carpathia's supporters. They bring that information up to Carpathia, who promises to reveal their treachery to the world. Then, Buck sees the plans for the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple, and hears Carpathia speak of the seven years of peace with Israel, and he knows that Carpathia IS the antichrist, as Pastor Bruce and Rayford had claimed.

Daniel 9:27 (NIV) - "He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven'. In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."
10. The members of the band who composed and performed the song "Believer", which was used in the movie, had cameos at the end of the film as security guards at the United Nations. What band?

Answer: Jake

Christian band 'Jake' was comprised of brothers Josh, Toby and Marty Penner. They produced two albums; "Jake" in 2000, and "Army of Love" in 2002.

The song "Believer" was featured during the scene where Buck Williams finally made the decision to follow Christ, just before entering the meeting with Nicolae Carpathia at the end of the movie. His decision kept him from being affected by Carpathia's brainwashing ability.
