Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A poodle named Chocolate

Answer: The Video Dead

'The Video Dead' is a 1987 zombie film. Chocolate is a black poodle wearing a cute little red sweater. He unfortunately meets his untimely end when he runs off into the woods, ignoring the calls from his owner to return. We don't see the poor animal get slaughtered by a roaming zombie. Thank goodness!
2. A German Shepherd named Samantha

Answer: I Am Legend

'I Am Legend' (2007) is a post apocalyptic horror film that stars Will Smith as Robert Neville. He is all alone in New York to fight off mutant-like creatures. His only companion is his beautiful German Shepherd named Samantha (aka Sam). Poor Sam winds up having to be put down by Neville after she becomes infected by a creature. It is such a tragic scene!
3. A gold and white cat named Marmalade

Answer: The New Daughter

Kevin Costner stars as novelist John James in the creepy 2009 film titled 'The New Daughter'. He lives with his daughter Louisa and son Sam. Marmalade is the family pet, who is found by John slaughtered near the house - obviously the victim of the creatures that are inhabiting the area.
4. A hamster named Admiral Wubbles

Answer: Emilie

Sarah Bolger stars as the horrible Emilie. "The babysitter from Hell" would be a much more appropriate name for her, considering the events that unfold in this quite disturbing 2015 horror thriller. One of those disturbing moments involves a poor little hamster named Admiral Wubbles, who meets his maker when he is purposely put in an aquarium with the other family pet... a snake! Thankfully, we don't get to see the attack.
5. A dog named Sadie

Answer: The Conjuring

Poor Sadie! She was the only one smart enough to not enter that creepy house in the 2013 film 'The Conjuring'. And yet... she still winds up dead! Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star in this horror gem based on true events.
6. A Golden Retriever named Ebuzz

Answer: Poltergeist

Aaah... finally a movie where the lovable family pet survives! Ebuzz, who belongs to the Freeling family in the 1982 horror classic 'Poltergeist', is a beautiful (and often funny) Golden Retriever. The good thing is that when the Freelings manage to get away from the terrors of their home, they get to take Ebuzz with them. Unfortunately their other pets (a goldfish and a canary named Tweety) do wind up meeting their demise.
7. A German Shepherd named Thor

Answer: Bad Moon

Although this 1996 werewolf film stars Mariel Hemingway and Michael Pare, Thor is the true star of the movie! He is the family pet who does his best to protect them from the vicious beast that roams the area by their home. The film does have some sad moments, but also a happy ending for animal lovers.
8. A gold cat named Jones

Answer: Alien

Every fan of the 1979 film 'Alien' remembers Jones. A very quiet, serene cat who unfortunately gets to witness the murder of a crew member attacked by the title creature. On the plus side, Jones lives to see another day, and is also shown in the 1986 sequel titled 'Aliens'.
9. A dog named Bugsy

Answer: The Babadook

'The Babadook' (2014) is written and directed by Jennifer Kent. It is about a widow named Amelia who is raising her young son Samuel. She feels like she is losing her mind every time she sees this creepy monster that is from a pop-up book called "Mister Babadook". Amelia and Samuel have a small, adorable dog named Bugsy. Unfortunately for the poor canine, he is in the wrong place at the wrong time!
10. A grey cat named Church

Answer: Pet Sematary

'Pet Sematary' is a 1989 horror film based on a 1983 book by horror novelist Stephen King. Church belongs to the Creed family. He gets hit on the very busy road in front of the their house. Louis Creed buries Church in a Micmac burial ground, with hopes that the cat will come back to life and his daughter Ellie won't even know that Church was killed in the first place. Things go terribly wrong from that point on!
