Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What movie is this quote from? "Yoohoo. I'll make you famous!"

Answer: Young Guns II (1990)

The sequel to 'Young Guns' that was released in 1988, 'Young Guns II' follows the exploits of Billy the Kid and his gang of cowboys.

Billy the Kid is played by Emilio Estevez and he delivers a number of one line quips that are guaranteed to raise a laugh. This line is said by Emilio Estevez after he arrives at the cattle ranch of John Simpson Chisum (played by James Coburn). When it appears that Chisum's men are about to do something silly, he threatens them with the quote, while brandishing a gun.
2. In this 1990 movie a detective is trying to track down the perpetrator of some brutal killings. In order to get some insight, he meets up with man in an alley-way, only to be told that "There's no stopping what can't be stopped - no killing what can't be killed." What character/killer from the movie is he referring to?

Answer: The Predator

Danny Glover plays the lead role in 'Predator 2'. The sequel moves away from the original jungle scene and shifts to the urban environment (Los Angeles) where the predator has started a new hunt.

The quote is said by a voodoo drug lord called King Willie (played by Calvin Lockhart) to Lieutenant Mike Harrigan (Glover).

The alley-way scene was filmed in a bad part of town and the noise created by the film crew angered the local residents. The film crew even located a dead body underneath some of the garbage.
3. Uh-oh, the character in this movie is having a bad day and not happy with his partner in crime. Who yells, "Kill them swiftly, if you will, but do it. For do not doubt, you are a killer Louis."?

Answer: Tom Cruise - 'Interview with the Vampire'

Tom Cruise plays the role of Lestat de Lioncourt in the 1994 movie 'Interview with the Vampire'. The movie also stars Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst.

Lestat (Cruise) says this quote to Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt) while trying to force Louis to cross over into the vampire world for real and kill humans for blood instead of just animals.

The movie was based on a book written by Anne Rice in 1973. Tom Cruise was not the first choice to play the role of Lestat. When Anne Rice originally wrote the book she envisioned Rutger Hauer playing the role. Prior to filming she wanted Julian Sands to play Lestat but the film executives wanted Tom Cruise instead. In the end, after she viewed the film cut, Anne Rice was more than happy with the performance of Tom.
4. Gary Oldman plays the role of bad cop, Stansfield, in the 1994 movie, 'Léon: The Professional'. Prior to entering an apartment unit he says to his collegue, "I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of ________. Can you hear it? It's like, when you put your head to the grass, you can hear it growin', you can hear the insects. Do you like __________?" What does Stansfield like?

Answer: Beethoven

'Léon: The Professional' was directed by Luc Besson. It tells the story of a professional hitman who lives a solitary life revolving around his work. All that changes when he finds himself caring for a 12 year old girl who wants to learn his trade.

The movie also stars Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Danny Aiello.

The quote is said by Gary Oldman to members of his crew, prior to breaking down a door of a drug dealer's apartment.
5. In the movie 'Face/Off' John Travolta plays the role of an FBI agent who swaps his face with a super criminal played by Nicholas Cage. Of the following quotes, what was NOT said by John Travolta in the movie?

Answer: "No more drugs for that man."

The Director, John Woo, originally wanted Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone to play the roles of FBI agent Sean Archer (Travolta) and bad guy, Castor Troy (Cage). Personally I think that Cage and Travolta did a great job in their roles.

The three one-liner quotes listed above (that are said by Travolta) are used in various parts of the movie. They are directed at Castor Troy (Cage).

"No more drugs for that man" was said by Nick Cassavetes, playing the role of the criminal, Dietrich Hassler. He says that to the 'new' Castor Troy (who is the good guy in the bad guy's body) after Troy seems to be talking gibberish. Confused? You need to watch the movie to get it, I am not going to be the one to spoil the plot!
6. Which Stanley Kubrick movie had R. Lee Ermey saying, "If you ladies leave my island, if you survive recruit training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth."?

Answer: Full Metal Jacket

'Full Metal Jacket' was released in 1987. It portrays a group of recruits about to embark on their basic training in the U.S. Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War era. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (played by R. Lee Emery) is a foul-mouthed drill instructor who pushes the recruits to their limits.

R. Lee Ermey served as a Marine during the Vietnam War and completed a 14 month tour of duty.

The quote is one of the many tirades dished out by Gunnery Sergeant Hartman to the new recruits in the barracks.
7. In what 1997 movie was the question, "Anybody else want to negotiate?" uttered by the main character, and who said it?

Answer: 'The Fifth Element' - Bruce Willis

This is another Luc Besson movie that starred Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker and Gary Oldman. Willis plays the role of Korben Dallas, an ex-soldier, who finds himself on a quest to find the fifth element and save mankind from destruction.

Bruce Willis directed this quote to a group of alien terrorists that had hostages. He had only just 'negotiated' with the leader of the group in his own special fashion.
8. What movie franchise is this quote from? "Okay then, we hold the world ransom for....one hundred billion dollars"

Answer: Austin Powers

The quote comes from 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery', which was released in 1997. 'Austin Powers' had two more sequels to the franchise in 1999 and 2002.

In this quote Dr Evil (played by Mike Meyers) decides to hold the world at ransom and announces his plan to make an initial demand of one million dollars. His offsider, 'Number Two', says, "Don't you think we should ask for MORE than a million dollars? A million dollars isn't exactly a lot of money these days. Virtucon alone makes over 9 billion dollars a year!"

Dr Evil says, "Really? That's a lot of money...Okay then, we hold the world ransom for...One... Hundred... Billion Dollars!"
9. Name the movie that these quotes came from. The character says, "Captain America here blew the landing by 26 miles!" When asked how he knows that, he replies, "Because I'm a genius."

Answer: Armageddon

Released in 1998, Armageddon is a movie directed by Michael Bay. It stars Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Liv Tyler, William Fichtner, Ben Affleck, Steve Buscemi, Will Patton and Keith David.

This particular quote was made by "Rockhound" (played by Steve Buscemi) and directed at the space shuttle commander, Colonel Willie Sharp (played by William Fichtner). On the flight into space "Rockhound" and Sharp bang heads over a few issues.
10. What actor said this quote? "Oh, you're right. The devil has come to Tsavo. Look at me! I am the devil."

Answer: Michael Douglas

The movie that this quote came from is 'The Ghost and the Darkness' (1996). It starred Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas. Set in Africa, it tells the story of Colonel John Henry Patterson (Kilmer), who arrives in Tsavo to kill some man-eating lions that are active near the local railway work site. Things don't go to plan and the workers get angry. As things get worse Charles Remington (Michael Douglas) arrives and says the line, scaring the workers into submission.

If you have not had the chance to watch it, take 90 minutes out of your life and do it, it is based on a true story.
