More Sith! - "Star Wars: Episode III" Quiz

I authored one Sith quiz, but there's a problem: "I want more!" (To quote Anakin Skywalker) I guess I'm just "...not the Jedi I should be." So here it is: More Sith!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many Dark Lords Of The Sith appear in "Revenge Of The Sith"?

Answer: Three

While it is true that the Order Of The Sith adheres strictly to the "Two Sith - no more, no less" rule, three Sith Lords appear in this movie.

Count Dooku is a Sith Apprentice known as Darth Tyranus. He is killed in battle by Anakin Skywalker early in the movie.

Anakin Skywalker later turns to the Dark Side, and pledges himself as a Sith Lord, replacing Count Dooku as the Sith Apprentice, and becoming Darth Vader.

Of course, Darth Sidous continues on throughout the entire movie as the Sith Master.

I PROMISE YOU THIS QUESTION IS CORRECT! THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN CHECKED AND RE-CHECKED EVERY WAY TO SUNDAY. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE FOUND SOME BRILLIANT NEW TECHNICALITY FOR A CORRECTION NOTE, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MINE, OR THE EDITORS'.

However, if you still feel a need to enlighten us, please make sure you read the following paragraphs, as they deal with some of the more common correction notes sent by players:

(1) There has been some confusion about what constitutes a Sith Lord. Sith Lords need not be Masters to carry the title Lord. To be a Sith Lord one need only be an Apprentice. There are always two Dark Lords of the Sith: The Master and Apprentice. That is why, in "Episode II" Sidious refers to Count Dooku as "Lord Tyranus". He also calls Darth Vader "Lord Vader" in "Episode III". Lord Vader was actually STILL an apprentice at the end of "Return Of The Jedi", just before he turned back to the Light. He was nonetheless, a Dark Lord of the Sith, and is referred to as Lord Vader repeatedly throughout the series.

(2) Even Apprentices carry the title "Dark" Lord Of The Sith. This was not always the case. It is in the time of the two trilogies. This has been verified! Apprentices are not just Lords Of The Sith, they carry the full title, including the word "Dark". Please do not send references to novels that take place before "Episode III". At the time "Episode III" takes place, the rule has changed. This is documented at the official Star Wars web site, starwars.com.

(3) If you answered four, because Greivous is a Sith Lord, please do not send a correction; he is not, I promise. He is the only non-Jedi non-Sith to wield a lightsaber in combat in any of the six movies. Being trained in the Jedi Arts is not the same as being trained in the ways of the Force or becoming a Sith. The Jedi Arts merely refer to hand-to-hand Jedi combat techniques, specifically with regard to light sabers. Interestingly, Han Solo (another non-Jedi non-Sith) uses a lightsaber in "Episode V", but he uses it to slice open the belly of a taun-taun, not in combat.

(4) Darth Plagueis being mentioned DOES NOT mean he APPEARED in the movie!

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE IT NECESSARY TO ADD A #5 TO THIS LIST! (Legitimate corrections are welcome, but this question really is a dead horse!)
2. What is the name of the lava planet where Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have their incredible light saber duel?

Answer: Mustafar

Obi-Wan has been dispatched by Master Yoda to find Darth Vader, who has gone to Mustafar to kill off the remaining leaders of the Separatist movement (Confederacy of Independant Systems). The Separatist leaders are hiding there and taking orders from Darth Sidious (whom they still do not know is Chancellor Palpatine) after the deaths of their leaders, Count Dooku and General Grievous.

Kashyyyk is the Wookie homeworld.

Kamino is the ocean planet from "Episode II" where the cloners live.

Yavin is the gas giant where the final battle in "Episode IV" takes place, when Luke Skywalker destroys the original Death Star. (The secret rebel base was on one of the planet's moons, Yavin IV.)
3. What is the name of the Trade Federation Viceroy who meets his demise at the hands of Darth Vader?

Answer: Nute Gunray

Viceroy Gunray is one of the Separatist leaders killed by Darth Vader on the planet Mustafar. With the Jedi nearly extinct, and the war all but over, Sidious no longer needs the Separatists, and actually wants them out of the picture in order to keep his new Empire strong. Thus, he has dispatched Vader to do the dirty work.

Lott Dod is one of Gunray's counterparts who represents the Trade Federation in the Galactic Senate.

Many of us would have liked to see Jar Jar perish. Alas, he does not. Thankfully, he only has a cameo in this movie.

Ron Gringich is a made-up name. Many believe Lucas incorporates the names of US political leaders as characters in the movies. Newt Gingrich & Ronald Reagan or Ray-gun combine to become Nute Gunray. Republican US Senator Trent Lott and Democratic US Senator Chris Dodd combine to become Galactic Senator Lott Dod. In that same "alleged" tradition I combined Ronald Reagan and Newt Gringich, but with Reagan's first name and Gingrich's (slightly twisted) last name, just for fun.
4. General Grievous is actually a Sith Lord named Darth Grievous. He took over after the death of Count Dooku as Sith Apprentice, and died before Anakin became the next Sith Apprentice.

Answer: False

General Grievous does take over for Count Dooku as the leader of the Separatist Droid Army after the Sith Lord's death. He is indeed trained in the Jedi Arts (Jedi lightsaber & hand to hand combat techniques) by Count Dooku, but he was never a Sith Lord. Darth Sidious had his eye on Skywalker for quite some time, as Dooku's successor, and had been grooming him for years.
5. Han Solo and Chewbacca appear in this movie.

Answer: False

Chewbacca actually has a substantial role, and is involved in the Wookie/clone vs droid battle on Kashyyyk. There were a lot of rumors that Han would appear in this movie, but not so.

Interestingly, the Millenium Falcon actually makes a small (very small) cameo in "Sith". According to official "Star Wars" sources, "In the establishing shot of the expansive Senate docking bays, there's a tiny Millennium Falcon easing into frame. It's not just a...Corellian freighter; it's on good authority - namely George Lucas - that this is the infamous (Falcon), before it came into the ownership of either Lando Calrissian or Han Solo."
6. Which is true of Jar Jar Binks with regard to "Episode III"?

Answer: He appears in, and speaks in this movie

Initially, it appears as though he says nothing in his short cameo appearance. However, if you listen closely, he says, "Excuse me", after being told to "Watch it" by another Senator.

A statement on the official "Star Wars" web site reads as follows:
"Some press outlets have reported that Jar Jar doesn't utter a single word in this film, but he does. Listen closely as the Senators file in behind Palpatine and enter the building. The bungling Gungan accidentally invades Senator Orn Free Taa's personal space, provoking an exchange of 'Watch it.' 'Excuse me.'"
7. Four Dark Lords Of The Sith appear in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy. A fifth is actually mentioned. In "Revenge Of The Sith", Palpatine references a Sith legend. Who is the Sith Master Palpatine refers to?

Answer: Darth Plagueis The Wise

The four Sith Lords who actually make appearances are:

Darth Sidious aka Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine ("Episodes I, II, III, V, VI")

Darth Vader aka Anakin Skywalker ("Episodes I, II, III, IV, V, VI")

Darth Tyranus aka Count Dooku ("Episodes II, III")

Darth Maul ("Episode I")

Palpatine tells Anakin of the Sith legend of Darth Plagueis The Wise, who had power to influence the midichlorians to create life, thus cheating death. Darth Plagueis's downfall was teaching his apprentice all he knew. His apprentice killed him in his sleep. Palpatine thinks it ironic that Plagueis knew how to save those he loved, but could not save himself from death.
8. How many Jedi go to help the Wookies on Kashyyyk?

Answer: Yoda and at least one more.

Yoda and Luminara Unduli are both present on Kashyyyk. In a single shot Unduli can be seen organizing forces on the beach in preparation for the Wookie/clone clash with the Separatist Droid Army.

Speaking of Wookies, did you ever wonder how they gave themselves names like Chewbacca and Tarfful when they can't even pronounce them?
9. At one point in the movie Obi-Wan says "Only a Sith - " what?

Answer: deals in absolutes

After Obi-Wan tracks Darth Vader to Mustafar, there is a brief dialogue between the two, just before they fight. Vader (formerly Anakin Skywalker) states, "If you're not with me, you're my enemy." To which Master Kenobi replies, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I will do what I must."

Side note: This line caused quite a buzz on talk radio in the US as many American conservatives view this exchange and several other moments in the movie as shots at American President George W. Bush, who made a similar statement to Anakin's after 9-11. There's also the possibility it's a movie! With all the political and religious underpinnings of the whole "Star Wars" plot, there are bound to be parallels (unintentional or otherwise) to modern politics and religion. Maybe Lucas just made a really good film.

Who really knows?

Please Note: I am not taking a position on this, only presenting multiple sides of an issue that has caused a social stir in the US.
10. What are Younglings?

Answer: Very young Jedi in training, usually trained in groups by Master Yoda

Yoda is generally the one who trains Younglings in the prequel movies. They generally appear to be of a pre-school to kindergarten age. (Much younger than Anakin was when he began the training.)

In Anakin's first act as Darth Vader, he leads an army of clones to the Jedi Temple to destroy all the Jedi there. Anakin discovers a group of Younglings hiding in the Jedi Council chamber, and kills them all.
