Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Rock star, 'Come out, come out... Wherever you are!'

Answer: Queen of the Damned

Released in 2002 and starring Stuart Townsend and the late singer Aaliyah, 'Queen of the Damned' follows on from 'Interview With the Vampire'. In it, Lestat becomes a rock star and wakes up the 'mother of all vampires.' The quote is from the 'Queen' herself, Akasha.
2. Julian Sands, library, slow-moving.

Answer: Tale of a Vampire

Released in 1992, it's based on the poem 'Annabel Lee' by Edgar Allan Poe and is more of a character study than your usual vampire movie. Sand's vampiric character spends much of the film in a library where he finds himself falling in love with one of the librarians.
3. Anime, Daemon hunting, 48 minutes long.

Answer: Blood: The Last Vampire

Released in 2000, 'Blood: The Last Vampire' is a landmark movie in the way it teams anime and CGI (computer generated imagery) with stunning success. The one flaw of the movie is that it's frustratingly short.
4. Alyssa, three days, 'The innocence is over.'

Answer: Embrace of the Vampire

'Embrace of the Vampire' (1994) is notorious for its scenes featuring Alyssa Milano topless. Martin Kemp plays the vampire, who has three days to win Alyssa over, or he dies. 'The innocence is over' is the tagline.
5. 1973 Playboy Centrefold, hitchhiking, Fran and Miriam.

Answer: Vampyres

Starring Marriane Morris and 1973 Playboy Centrefold, Anulka, 'Vampyres' is one of the most genuinely erotic vampire films ever released. Morris and Anulka play vampires Fran and Mirium, who go out hitchhiking to lure victims back to their abandoned mansion.
6. Deneuve, Bowie, Sarandon, 'Mrs. Blaylock... are you making a pass at me?'

Answer: The Hunger

Released in 1983, and starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie and Susan Sarandon, it is notorious for the lesbian relationship that develops between Sarandon's character and Mrs. Blaylock (Deneuve).
7. Vampire next door, TV show host, Evil Ed.

Answer: Fright Night

A cult horror/comedy from 1985, which spawned a sequel in 1989.
8. Second Christopher Lee "Dracula" movie, no dialogue for "Dracula", watery death.

Answer: Dracula: Prince of Darkness

Lee was persuaded to return to the role of "Dracula" in 1965, but allegedly he was so displeased with the dialogue he was given that he ended up only making non-verbal sounds, such as growling. "Dracula" is disposed of this time by being submerged in icy water.
9. 1992, based on the book, Keanu Reeves.

Answer: Bram Stoker's Dracula

Also starring Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder, this brought the "Dracula" story into the 90s. Not one of my favourites.
10. Schoolgirl turned vampire killer, spawned a TV series.

Answer: buffy the vampire slayer

Released in 1992, and starring Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland, Luke Perry and Rutger Hauer, it was a massive flop, but spawned a much more popular TV series five years later. Thanks for playing!
