Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Knights from which crusade discovered secret vaults containing treasure, which were hidden under a temple?

Answer: First

We find this out as Ben's grandfather is telling the story behind the treasure. Before the knights discovered the treasure, it had been missing for over a thousand years.
2. What was the name of the temple where knights found the treasure, which became known as the treasure of the Knights Templar?

Answer: Temple of Solomon

We also find this out in the story that Ben's grandfather tells him. Once the knights from the First Crusade found the treasure, they brought the treasure back to Europe and took the name "The Knights Templar".
3. The Knights Templar smuggled the treasure from Europe into the New World. The Knights Templar formed a new brotherhood that was known as what?

Answer: Free Masons

They named themselves Free Masons, in honor of the builders of the great temple. At the time of the Revolutionary War, the Free Masons hid the treasure again. At the time, Masons included such famous people as Paul Revere, George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin.
4. Which is not a symbol of the Knights Templar?

Answer: Shield and two swords

Various symbols of the Knights Templar/Free Masons were on clues in order to help identify them. Mason symbols, such as the all-seeing eye and unfinished pyramid, are on the US $1 bill.
5. When Ben was analyzing the best way to steal the Declaration of Independence, he found that the best time to steal it was when it was where?

Answer: In the preservation room

The preservation room is where documents and their casings are cleaned/repaired. There is much less security here than where the declaration is on display.
6. What was the password that Ben needed to type to get into the area that housed the Declaration of Independence? This was the password that Riley tried to figure out by using anagrams, after being told all of the letters that the password contained.

Answer: Valley Forge

Ben figured out that the password was Valley Forge because Dr. Chase hit the "L" twice. He knew this because he could see her finger prints on the keyboard.
7. Which clue was the following riddle from? "The legend writ, the stain affected, the key in Silence undetected. Fifty five in iron pen, Mr. Matlack can't offend."

Answer: Meerschaum Pipe (from the Charlotte)

Ben figured out that this riddle meant that there was an invisible map on the back of the Declaration of Independence. Ben knew this because 55 men signed the Declaration of Independence and Timothy Matlack was the official scribe of the Continental Congress.
8. Which clue was this riddle from? "The vision to see the treasured past comes as the timely shadow crosses in front of the house of Pass and Stow."

Answer: Silence Dogood Letters

This riddle, as Ben figures out, says that you must be at Independence Hall at 2:22. They figured this out because John Pass and John Stow cast the Liberty Bell. Independence Hall was where the Liberty Bell hung at the time of the Revolutionary War.
9. Which clue were the words "Heere at the Wall" and "Parkington Lane" on?

Answer: Declaration of Independence

These clues could be seen on the back of the declaration using the special glasses that Ben found at Independence Hall. Ben figured out that the treasure was at the intersection of Broadway and Wall Street in New York City, because Wall Street follows the path of an actual wall that the Dutch colonists built as a defense.

The main gate was located at a street called Deheere. Deheere was renamed Broadway after the British took over. Parkington Lane was a third degree master mason. Ben and the rest had to go through Lane's tomb in order to get to the treasure.
10. When Ian Howe was arrested at the end of the movie, which of the following crimes was he not charged with?

Answer: conspiracy

Ben told FBI Agent Sadusky that he could find Ian at Old North Church, in Boston, since this is where his dad led him. Ian was arrested by Agent Sadusky and a whole force of police while trying to break into Old North Church.
