"Night Shift" The Movie Trivia Quiz

With quotes like, "Oh, that Barney Rubble, what an actor". I thought this movie deserved a quiz. We followed the adventure of Chuck, (Henry Winkler) and Bill, (Michael Keaton) as morgue attendants who decide to run a prostitution service.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Night Shift" takes place in what American city?

Answer: New York City, New York

The state was revealed by the license plate on the car driven by the murderers of the pimp, Franklin Jones, when they are chasing him down the alley. The city was first suggested by the sight of the Empire State Building as Franklin's body was being driven to the morgue in the opening credits.

This was confirmed by the patch on Chuck Lumley's morgue coat that reads, "City Morgue, City of New York".
2. Chuck gets switched from the day shift to the night shift by his boss Mr. Carboni because Mr. Carboni has hired whom?

Answer: Carboni's nephew

Mr. Carboni's nephew was Leonard Carboni. He was the character that said, "Oh, that Barney Rubble. What an actor," while watching "The Flintstones" on television. Bill Blazejowski was played by Michael Keaton. He was the morgue driver. Belinda Keaton was played by Shelley Long; she was a prostitute.
3. Belinda needed a new pimp because Franklin was murdered. How was he killed?

Answer: Pushed out a window

Franklin was tied to a chair, gagged and pushed out a sixth story window. He fell through a basketball hoop on his way down. Two young men were betting on a basketball dunk at the time.
4. Bill was an "idea man" as he put it. How did he keep track of all his ideas?

Answer: Tape recorder

Bill carried a tape recorder. One of his ideas was to eliminate garbage by way of edible paper.
5. Aside from being the morgue driver, and of course, later a pimp, Bill had another business he ran from the morgue. What was the business?

Answer: Limousine service

Bill used the morgue's hearse and covered the morgue logo with his own magnetic sign that read, "Billy Blaze Limousine Co.".
6. The characters in "Night Shift" had their ups and downs. Chuck went to his apartment building and found Belinda beat up. Where did he find her?

Answer: Elevator

Chuck finds Belinda in the elevator. When trying to help her, he gets roughed up by a troop of "Blue Belles" who thought he was a mugger. Belinda was beat up by a client who refused to pay up front.
7. Chuck and Bill were on the subway discussing Belinda's problem of not having a pimp. Bill suggested that they fill the role, but "pimp is an ugly word". What could they call themselves instead?

Answer: "Love Brokers"

Bill loved his idea and Chuck seemed hesitant. Bill gets off the subway and yells "Love Brokers" at Chuck through the window.
8. Bill seemed to really like to spend his money on the finer things. Chuck, however, liked to save his money. What things did Chuck save his money in?

Answer: Coffee cans

Chuck saved his money in "Savarin" automatic filter coffee cans. Among other things, Bill purchased a car with a "solid gold dash" and fur carpeting.
9. After the big Christmas party at the morgue, Bill and Belinda find out Chuck had not saved all his money. What did Chuck buy?

Answer: A tombstone

Chuck received a hat at the party from the ladies. He bought a new tombstone for his father because the old one was the smallest one in the cemetery.
10. Chuck and Belinda end up together at the end of "Night Shift".

Answer: True

I'm not gonna give all the details away on this one, but of course they end up together. They work out their differences and fight through adversity with Bill's help of course. Another happy Hollywood ending. ;)
