Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "And since I am dead, I can take off my head to recite Shakespearean quotations." Which character says this?

Answer: Jack

The full line is, "And since I am dead, I can take off my head to recite Shakespearean quotations. No animal now man, can scream like I can, with the fury of my recitations." This is the second song in "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Jack is telling the audience about how he is sick of being the best at Halloween scaring, and wants to do something else.

The quote basically is part of his description about how good he is at his job.
2. "But Jack, it was about your Christmas. There was smoke and fire." Who is talking to Jack?

Answer: Sally

Sally is discussing with Jack about her vision of Jack's Christmas. Sally is the only one who realises how much of a disaster Christmas is going to be. She has previously had a vision of a Christmas tree going up in flames. She finds Jack handing out various presents for the people of Halloween town.

She tells Jack that she has envisioned his Christmas going up in flames, and that it will be a complete disaster. Jack shakes her off, saying that everything will be fine.
3. "I am the one hiding under your bed, ... , and eyes glowing _____." What is the next word?

Answer: Red

This is the "Halloween Song". The Halloween town monsters have just gotten back from a night of haunting the human world. The line is "I am the one hiding under your bed, teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red" followed by "I am the one hiding under your stairs, fingers like snake, and spiders in my hair".

This song is the first song in "The Nightmare Before Christmas" where the residents of the town are describing their scariest features. They then introduce the King of Halloween Town, Jack.
4. "Won't they be impressed? I am a genius." What song is this quote from?

Answer: Making Christmas

This is scene where they are preparing presents for the children for Christmas. The character in question is the red and black one, with a head that seems to be unattached at the jaw. He is making a hat from a rat. Jack has given them all toys to improve. They practically mutilate the toys, creating monsters (such as a doll vampire, and a killer duck, etc.) that end up scaring the kids.
5. "The're trying to hit us Zero!" Which character says this?

Answer: Jack

Jack is calling out to his pet ghost dog Zero, as they are flying. He is about to be hit by the Army's giant gun. This part is close to the end. He has handed out many of his mutilated toys and the kids have called the police. They have set up huge machine guns to destroy the fake Santa.

At first Jack believes that they are simply celebrating, but when a couple of the bombs almost hit him, he realises that he is in a lot of trouble. How can Jack get away?
6. "The smells of cakes and pies are absolutely every where." What song is this line from?

Answer: What's This?

This is the scene where Jack has fallen into Christmas Town. He is singing about the wonder and beauty of it. There are millions of different colours, and the residents are all happily playing with one another. Jack has never seen anything like it. His heart is aching with a need to be a part of it.

He will soon go back to Halloween town, loaded down with tonnes of Christmas presents, where he will convince the monsters to make Christmas theirs.
7. "I sense there's something in the wind." Which character sings this line?

Answer: Sally

Jack has gone flying off, to ruin Christmas (handing out the monstrous presents), and Sally is singing her solo. This line is the first line in the song. She knows that something is wrong. The song is about how no one will listen to her. She believes that she has seen the last of Jack, and in some weird way, she thinks this is all her fault. Everyone else in Halloween town thinks that the Christmas presents are great, and besides Sally, no one actually realises that it isn't working out right.
8. "And for the first time since I don't remember when, I felt just like my old boney self again." What song does Jack sing this line in?

Answer: Poor Jack

Jack is wallowing in self-pity, after being blown to smithereens. He has ruined Christmas, when all he wanted to do was make the children happy. He soon realises, that their screams actually made him feel like he used to (happy). This Quote describes how he has gone back to his old scary self again.

He no longer feels the need to be part of Christmas. After this startling realisation, he heads back to Halloween Town to save Sally and Santa Claus.
9. "What's this? What's this? I haven't got a clue. What's this? Why it's completely new." What's this song?

Answer: Finale/Reprise

Aha here's a twist, he, he, he. Ahem, anyway, this is near the end where it starts to snow in Halloween town. This is the first line in this song, and different Halloween character are singing it. They have never seen snow before, and they soon discover that they like it. Every one is happy. Jack is back and ready for next Halloween, Santa is flying away to save Christmas, and as a present for Halloween Town, he makes it snow. Soon Jack will see Sally walking away by herself.
10. "My dearest friend, if you don't mind, I'd like to join you by your side." In which song is this line sung?

Answer: Finale

Sally has walked away from the celebrations, to go sit on the hill. Jack has followed her, and realises that he has been in love with her for the whole time, but had been too busy to notice. Now he is confessing his feelings for her. Everything is great.

The Mayor's face has gone back to happy, the monsters are discovering the joys of snow, and the doctor is with his new invention. And they all lived horribly ever after.
