Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What film, starring Jason Cairns, is about the trials faced by two young men who try to continually reinvent themselves?

Answer: One

Cairns wrote the script and starred in the film.

The movie was released in the U.S. in 1998, with next to no fanfare, earning less than $200,000 at the U.S. Box Office.

In the film Cairns played Charlie O'Conell, while Kane Picoy played the co-lead of Nick Raczca. The two men have been best friends for years, almost to the point of being thought of as one person.

The film explored the bonds of their friendship through a series of vignettes proving how unbreakable their bond is.
2. Starring Michael Keaton and Rene Russo, what film followed a police officer around as he tried to solve his partner's murder?

Answer: One Good Cop

Keaton played Artie Lewis, Russo played his wife Rita.

The film followed Artie as he fought the bad guys, searched for a killer and helped Rita take care of his fallen partner's three children.

During the film Artie was in desperate need of cash for a down payment on a house for his new family, and, unable to find a different way to get the cash, he grabbed a gun and a ski mask and robbed the mobster responsible for his partner's death.
3. Liv Tyler played the object of several men's affections as they recollect what happened "One Night at _____".

Answer: McCool's

The movie "One Night at McCool's" followed the recollections of several men and how they interacted with Liv Tyler's character Jewel.

Each of the men, including Matt Dillon, Paul Reiser, and Michael Douglas had different memories of what happened that fateful night.

Some scenes were shown through multiple filters, with events unfolding differently depending on who the narrator was at the moment.

Stan Seidel, the writer, based many of the film's characters on real life experiences from working as a bartender in college.
4. "One Night with the King," followed the tale of a young Jewish girl who would later become known as Esther, the biblical queen of what country?

Answer: Persia

Persia was the only country among the options that existed in biblical times.

The movie followed Hadassah on her journey to become Esther and told the story of how she helped to save the Persian kingdom and won the heart of King Xerxes in the process.

Tiffany Dupont played the female lead while Luke Goss played the king.
5. Which future Batman gave way to the top billed Michelle Pfeiffer in "One Fine Day"?

Answer: George Clooney

Among the options, only Clooney had yet to don the cape and cowl when "One Fine Day" (1996) was released.

Clooney would take up the mantle in "Batman & Robin" his next film after this one.

This film followed Clooney's Jack Taylor and Pfeiffer's Melanie Parker as they had a series of adventures throughout the day that kept bringing the two single parents back into each other's lives.
6. Directed by Milos Forman, who was the male lead in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"?

Answer: Jack Nicholson

Nicholson played the role of R.P. McMurphy and earned his fifth Oscar nomination, and first win for the role.

In the movie he played a mental patient who tried to lead a revolt against the head nurse at the facility.

Nicholson also won Oscars for "Terms of Endearment" and "As Good As It Gets".
7. "Year One" was the final movie directed by which famous "Ghostbusters" actor?

Answer: Harold Ramis

All four were the original "Ghostbusters" team in the first two films.

Ramis directed 11 feature films and a made-for-TV movie. The first film was "Caddyshack" in 1980, the final was "Year One" in 2009.

Ramis also directed four episodes of the show "The Office" the last one being in 2010, marking his final directorial job before his passing in 2014.
8. The original "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" starred Walter Matthau, the remake "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" starred Denzel Washington. What was Pelham 1 2 3?

Answer: A subway train

In both movies the plot focused on a group of armed men who hijacked a New York City subway.

Both versions focused on subway dispatcher Lt. Garber (Zachary Garber in the original, Walter Garber in the remake) as he tried to negotiate with the plot mastermind for the release of the train's passengers.

In the remake the character's first name was changed to pay homage to Matthau, who has already passed away when the film was made.
9. In "The One", who starred as a man who has to fight alternate reality versions of himself?

Answer: Jet Li

Jet Li, a Japanese martial artist and movie star, played the titular characters known as Gabe Law and Lawless. The movie unfolded to see which of them would remain as the one left standing.

In the film Li portrayed several alternate reality versions of the character, becoming stronger after killing each alternate version.

Over the course of two years Lawless --the evil version of the character-- has fought and killed 122 versions of himself. After each kill all of the remaining versions become stronger. Until there are only two alternate versions remaining, police officer Gabe Law, and the one known as Lawless.

They then battle to find out who is "The One".
