Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A key for a BMW motorcycle comes in quite handy as Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck) is escaping both AllCom and the federal authorities. What type of motorcycle does he drive?

Answer: R1150 RT Roadster

The BMW bike in the film is orange. The bike chase sequence, which is another John Woo trademark, is one the few sequences of the film that was story-boarded.
The stuntman riding the motorcycle was Tom McComas. He has been Ben Affleck's stunt double in numerous films, including "Pearl Harbor" (2001) and "The Sum of All Fears" (2002).
Nitpickers on the Internet note that the key in the envelope was a key for a BMW automobile, not a BMW motorcycle. The R1150 was produced in 2002-2004. The R1200 began production in 2005. The K1200 is also a 1200cc bike, but with a four cylinder engine. The K1300 began production in 2008.
2. Michael Jennings includes a magnifying glass in the envelope. How does it turn out to be useful?

Answer: Looking at the postage stamps

The magnifying glass reveals a microdot on one of the postage stamps. Jennings uses a higher powered microscope to discover a potential future that is terrifying. People believe the predictions of the machine, and act accordingly, therefore creating self-fulfilling prophecies. The last shot is of a nuclear detonation over a major city.
3. Who is on the postage stamps on the envelope that Jennings sends to Reddy-Grant?

Answer: Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein is featured on the stamps - certainly appropriate for a film about bending the time-space continuum. A microdot in the eye of one of the Einstein stamps reveals a future in which knowledge of the future destroys civilization.
Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was the most significant scientist of the 20th century. His ideas about time, space and gravity revolutionized physics, and his work on electrons created the electronic revolution.
The US Postal Service has issued several Einstein stamps: An 8-cent one in 1966, and a 15-cent one for the anniversary of his birth in 1979. Many nations issued Einstein stamps in 2005.
Heisenberg and Feynman are both physicists. Philip K Dick wrote the short story that the film "Paycheck" was based on.
4. Michael Jennings and Rachel Porter need to distract the guards to sneak into All-Com. What do they use to set off the metal detectors?

Answer: Ball Bearings

A few ball bearings can do wonders to create havoc among security personnel. Jennings and Rachel use the confusion created when the metal detectors go off to slip into the building. Rethrick (Aaron Eckhart) knows they are in the building, but lets them proceed.
They sneak into the building on level four.
5. Michael Jennings uses the All-Com pass twice in the film. Where is he the second time he uses it?

Answer: The time viewing lab

Jennings uses the AllCom pass twice: once to enter the facility on Level 4, and the second time to jam the door to the lab with the time viewer.
Maya attempts to steal the pass at Café Michel. The pass number (seen at the FBI) is 0-71486-03604-3.
6. An Allen wrench comes in handy when opening up the mechanism to a door lock. How does Rachel (Uma Thurman) want to disable the lock initially?

Answer: Monkey wrench

Rachel is about to smash the lock with a large monkey wrench when Jennings pulls out the far smaller allen wrench and calmly removes the face plate. She also wants to use the wrench on the computer servers.
The wrench does come in handy later to gain access to the ventilation system.
7. Michael Jennings jams the electronic lock on his laboratory with a coin. Whose face is on the coin?

Answer: Dwight Eisenhower

The coin that Jennings uses to jam the card reader is a one dollar coin, has a smooth edge, and is silver, and is in fact an Eisenhower dollar. Kennedy was on the 50 cent piece; the Susan B Anthony dollar had an octagonal edge; and the Sacajawea coin was gold. Eisenhower dollars were minted between 1971 and 1978 in honor the 34th President of the United States.
8. Michael Jennings uses a crossword puzzle to locate a virus he had hidden in the time viewer. What six-letter word in the crossword grid leads him to the device which turns the machine off?

Answer: Switch

The clue is 12 Down: "Used for changing connections in a circuit" and the answer is "switch." 12 Down reveals the device was hidden on circuit board 12. Jennings uses the puzzle as an overlay on the circuit board and finds the bug he placed in the machine. Once he removes it, he can view the future.
The error the machine displays is Error 41, and the machine crashes at 3:03 p.m. - the same time Michael Jennings was supposed to die in FBI custody.
9. Jennings includes a bullet among the items in the envelope. How does he wind up using it?

Answer: Blowing up liquid hydogen tanks

When he first sees the bullet, Jennings (Ben Affleck) says, "That's comforting." Jennings uses the bullet to trigger an explosion in canister number 6. Wolfe gets caught in the explosion. Nitpickers on the Internet point out that the ballistics of the scene conflict with the laws of physics.
10. The watch that Michael Jennings wears for most of film flashes a message at a critical moment. What does it say?

Answer: Go

The watch flashes "Go" just as an FBI sniper shoots at Jennings. He and Rachel avoid the bullet, which kills Rethrick. Jennings and Rachel escape amidst the confusion of the explosion. Agent Dodge says Jennings was killed in the explosion. The film closes with Jennings and Rachel holding a $90 million lottery ticket.
