Johnny had to go through many different training exercises, including knife throwing and obstacle courses.

We know Johnny was on the blue team in the game of Capture the Flag, because his armor had blue trim and his weapon fired blue bolts. Johnny used many Jump Ball techniques from his High School life. He and Dizzy were on a team and Dizzy helped greatly in Johnny's victory. When Johnny grabbed the red flag in the combat simulation, he was promoted to squad leader.

Answer: Someone died.

The trainees on the Assault course used live rounds and were to use extreme caution. Breckenridge said something was wrong with his helmet, so Johnny told him to take it off to see if he could fix it. Djana'd lost control of her weapon and blew off part of Breckenridge's head. It was sad day, and Johnny was relieved of Squad command.

Answer: Ten

The major didn't want to lose a third recruit (Johnny) after he had already lost Breckenridge and had to expel Djana'd from the Mobil Infantry. Zim said he thought that they could salvage Johnny; punish him, but keep him in the Mobil Infantry. He was given ten lashes in front of every other trainee and instructor at the base.

The scene started off with Carmen sitting alone on the bridge as the ship cruised through open space. Zander entered and Carmen told him she thought third watch was always longest. Zander had brought her coffee and told her that it all depended on who you spent it with.

They were enjoying their time until a massive asteroid came into view. They were able to avoid most of it, but lost their communications tower. They were unable to warn Earth that the asteroid was coming for them, from the Arachnid Quarantine Zone.

You could see Ace with the badge when Johnny was being lashed for all to see. Ace had a look of grim satisfaction. He also lost it to someone else, later.

Johnny had just put in his request to leave the M.I. and was walking down Washout Lane when all the recruits in the courtyard ran for the main viewing screen. Johnny joined them and as he was running, asked Kitten what was happening. Kitten shouted back, over the noise of hundreds of feet, that they were going to war.

When Johnny got to the main viewing screen, it showed what was left of Johnny's hometown: burning wreckage and bloodied bodies everywhere. It was hit by a bug asteroid, most likely the one that took off the communications tower on the Roger Young (Carmen's ship).

Answer: His requisition form (1240 A) was torn.

After seeing what was left of his home town, Johnny went to the Major and asked if he could reconsider his request to drop out. The Major said it wouldn't be legal if Johnny stayed in the Mobil Infantry after signing his 1240 A. Johnny countered, explaining how his entire family was in Buenos Aires when the asteroid struck. Zim, feeling sympathetic towards Johnny, stepped forward and picked up Johnny's requisition form, and asked if it was his signature on it.

The Major looked away and Zim explained that it didn't look like it to him. Zim tore the 1240 A, and told Johnny to carry on.

This was from one of the Federal Notices. Carl, now a Federal scientist, explained that "Your average bug warrior [wasn't] too smart, but if you [blew] off a limb, it [would] still be 86% battle effective." Then he explained to aim for the nerve stem to put it down for good.

Answer: Mint stupid troopers

On the space station Ticonderoga, the rally point for the invasion of Klendathu, Johnny met back up with Carmen for the first time since he had joined the M.I. After a brief spat, Johnny started to walk away. Carmen called out, trying to explain herself, but Zander told her to save her breath. "When you're trained to kill, it doesn't pay to be polite" he explained. Johnny turned around and asked if Zander had anything to say about the Mobil Infantry. Zander said that Johnny had heard him correctly and asked him if he wanted to make something of it. Johnny said, "No, not with an officer, because the M.I. [didn't] mint stupid troopers." Zander proposed that they disregard rank, and the situation soon evolved into a heated fight between the two men.

Answer: Death

Johnny, Ace, Dizzy, and Kitten all got tattoos exactly alike, right before the landing on Klendathu. Dizzy, Ace, and Johnny all survived, but Kitten didn't make it back to the drop ships. Kitten was the last trooper Johnny saw killed before he lost consciousness on Klendathu.

The Federal Network said over 100000, which was true, but when Carmen made her way back through Ticonderoga, she looked at the main viewing screen which read "Klendathu Casualties: 308563". It also said that Johnny was KIA, but we knew that's not accurate because he had the rest of the movie to live through.

Answer: Roughnecks

The Roughnecks killed more bugs than any other unit on Klendathu. Johnny progressed quickly through the ranks in the Roughnecks, moving to Sergeant, then to Squad Leader, and finally to Lieutenant.

Answer: Dizzy and Ace

After Johnny was out of the hospital, he, Ace, and Dizzy were assigned to a new unit. All three were best friends in the military. It was the lieutenant of this new unit who saved Johnny from the bugs after he passed out on Klendathu.

Mr. Rasczak was Johnny's favorite teacher in school. He was missing an arm back then, but got a prosthetic when he joined the M.I.
