This is a busy metropolis. It bears a resemblance to Tokyo. About twenty minutes into the film, White describes the city as being in Japan, but other than that, no details are given to match the city to a corresponding reality. The film blends elements of fantasy and reality, as people can fly and magical creatures appear and disappear.

White is talking to his friend Black in this scene. White is the more adventurous of the two children. The more sober-minded Black frequently pulls him out of trouble and explains things to him. This line is part of a conversation the two children have about forty minutes into the movie.
