Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What did Mitch Phillips call the killer's mask from the first murder?

Answer: Granny Killer

Mitch speaks about this in a line during Reed's interrogation in the police station after Reed's girlfriend Michelle Wallace was killed by The Chameleon Killer.
2. What did Mitch Phillips call the killer's mask from the second murder?

Answer: Ed Gein Wannabe

This was another part of the same line spoken while Mitch was looking at the first three murders' masks during Reed's interrogation in the police station. This was right before Reed was placed into protective custody and put up in a safe house.
3. What did Mitch Phillips call the killer's mask from the third murder?

Answer: Pale Faced Captain Kirk

This was spoken in a line during Reed's interrogation in the police station. Mitch walked into the room with Reed & Sheriff Garris and said upon looking at the masks on the table, "So, so far we got a Granny Killer, an Ed Gein Wannabe, and a Pale Faced Captain Kirk... why do you look so worried, Reed?"
4. Sheriff Garris never has a physical altercation with The Chameleon Killer in the film.

Answer: False

Garris actually has two physical altercations with the killer, once after the Kris Chandler murder and once during the finale of the film.
5. What was the original title of the film before its release?

Answer: Copycat

The film was originally titled "Copycat" on all early drafts of the script, the title of the film was eventually changed to avoid confusion with the Sigourney Weaver/Harry Connick Jr. film of the same name.
6. Theresa Mallory, 'Dirty' Harriette Kroeger, and Sheriff Garris all survive the finale of the film.

Answer: False

'Dirty' Harriette Kroeger is stabbed to death by The Chameleon Killer during the final moments of the film.
7. Who was the killer behind the Chameleon Killer mask?

Answer: Ellie Richards

When Ellie killed Mitch in the final few moments of the film, the reveal was quite unexpected for many. That the quiet bookwormish Ellie Richards could have killed all the people she did in such a brutal manner, but the biggest surprise was why.
8. How was The Chameleon Killer 'killed' in the final moments of this film?

Answer: Shot several times with a shotgun

The Chameleon Killer proved herself very resilient and took several blasts from a shotgun before staying down. In the sequel she is however shot in the head with a pistol and in one of the original early drafts of the script (when Mitch was the killer) the killer was kicked into the air and blown in half with a shotgun.
9. Who 'killed' The Chameleon Killer?

Answer: Sheriff Garris

Sheriff Garris was the one responsible for shooting Ellie with the shotgun. At the time 'Dirty' Harriette Kroeger was dead, Theresa Mallory was wounded and lying on the ground, and Deputy Albright showed up just after the shooting was over.
10. Who played the lead role of Sheriff Jack Garris?

Answer: Brian Ramme

Daniel Ramme was the original first choice to play Sheriff Garris, he had worked with director Matt Spease prior in "Dark World: Duel of the Assassins". But when the director went to meet with Daniel about the part, he met his father Brian and thought he would work even better in the part and cast him.

It was Brian Ramme's first feature film. Daniel ended up playing the role of Al Donaldson instead. During planning on the film's sequel "Silent Vengeance", the part was offered to both Leo Rossi and pro wresting hall of famer Roddy Piper. Roddy was actually cast, but the budget fell through and film had to be made on a much smaller budget. Ironically Brian Ramme would end up reprising his role in the sequel after all.
11. 'Dirty' Harriette Kroeger believed Theresa Mallory to be the killer during the climax.

Answer: True

Yes, this was what lead Kroeger to her death as she turned her back on Ellie to check if Theresa was armed. Then when she finally turned to check Ellie, Ellie pulled a small knife stabbing her to death with it.
12. What was the reasoning behind The Chameleon Killer's murder spree?

Answer: Witnessed the rape and murder of her mother

When Ellie and Trish were just children, a man busted into Danielle Richards' house, then raped and murdered her. Ellie was the only witness, but she was deemed too young to testify in court. And due to a pay off by Christopher Barres to the judge and jury, the man walked away free.
13. During a flashback in the the finale of the film, who is revealed to be The Chameleon Killer's real first victim?

Answer: Al Donaldson

Al Donaldson was the man that killed Ellie's mother and Christopher Barres payed to set free. After Al walked away a free man, Ellie caught up with him later when she grew up and killed him in the back seat of his own car. She had lured him in under the pretext that they were going to have sex. This was indeed her first murder, which we see during the end of the film in the flashback.
14. Who played Ellie Richards in the film?

Answer: Violet Flame

Violet Flame was a pro wrestler who had made her acting debut in director Matt Spease's "Dark World: Duel of the Assassins" and worked with him again on the original "Evil on Queen Street". "The Chameleon Killer" was her third collaboration with Matt Spease, who wanted her for this role due to her physicality from her wrestling experience. Maghan Torrance ended up playing the part in the sequel "Silent Vengeance". Robin Lawrence was cast in the role of Michelle Wallace, but Matt later wished he had cast her in the role of Ellie (due to her resemblance to Ellie's namesake actress Ellie Cornell). Amanda Jones was originally cast as Trish, Ellie's sister, but backed out at the last minute.
15. The character of Mitch Phillips is openly gay in the film and makes a pass at Sheriff Garris at one point.

Answer: False

The character was exactly the opposite, he made passes at several different women throughout the film including 'Dirty' Harriette Kroeger, all of whom rejected his advances. Ironically it was Trish Richards who showed interest in Mitch, but he showed no interest in her, as he was wanting her sister Ellie.

This eventually led to his ultimate death, since he trusted the girl who turned out to be The Chameleon Killer!
