Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What kind of airplane does Charles Morse own?

Answer: Challenger

The mechanic wants to fly the Challenger while also gazing longingly at the wife of Charles Morse. The mechanic identifies the plane as a Challenger and Mr. Morse confirms it. Mr. Morse and his passengers must later take a smaller aircraft to the village in Alaska.
2. What does Styles say about the kitchen in their remote village lodge?

Answer: It is always open.

Styles invites Mr. Morse and the guests into the lodge and heartily welcomes them all in. Keys are not needed as the doors are always open. The kitchen is always open and they can fix whatever they like.
3. Which actor played Styles?

Answer: L.Q. Jones

L.Q. Jones directed the sci-fi film "A Boy And His Dog". He also acted in "Casino".

Styles welcomes everyone into the lodge but would rather be out hunting and fishing with his pal Jack.
4. What is on the other side of the blade?

Answer: A rabbit smoking a pipe

Styles is impressed by Charles Morse once he correctly knows the folklore behind the emblem on the blade.

At first, Styles expects these guests to not be very savvy to living in the wild but Styles seems genuinely impressed. In these scenes, Charles is reading books about wilderness survival.
5. What does Bob give Charles for his birthday?

Answer: A knife

Bob gives Charles the knife at an impromptu surprise party for Charles. Charles is fixing himself a ham and cheese sandwich when Bob lurches out in a bear fur and surprises Charles.

The guests sing and present Charles with gifts and Bob gives Charles a knife. Charles is surprised to receive this gift and eyes Bob curiously from that point on.
6. What does Styles demand of Charles after Bob presents his birthday gift to Charles?

Answer: Give Bob a coin

Once Styles says "give the donor a coin", Charles Morse quickly does so.

This is an interesting scene as Charles and Bob are not really friends. In fact, Bob is having an affair with Mickey, who is the wife of Charles.
7. What is Bob looking for?

Answer: A model for his photo shoot

Bob is obsessed with photographing Jack. This is the reason that Bob, Charles and Stephen venture away from the lodge.

Bob wants to find someone to photograph that he can take a photograph of that won't be self-conscious. Bob opines that the last great photographs were taken in the 19th century.

The search for Jack drives the plot and many reviewers or viewers expressed that they thought the plot contrivance could have been more interesting. I feel they have a point but the adventure begins after the crash. They are not setting out for a major adventure or quest for riches. They are on a basic search for Jack and they believe they will be home by later that day.
8. Why does Charles lose respect for Styles?

Answer: Styles asks Charles to invest in the resort.

Styles starts a conversation with Charles on the porch that quickly turns to his diagrams and visions for a new facility upgrade at his resort. Charles does not like being solicited or talked down to throughout the film.

L.Q. Jones also made the drama "Sacred Ground".
9. What will happen to Bob and his camera crew at 4:18?

Answer: They will lose the daylight.

The crew hustles together for an impromptu mission to find Jack in the Alaskan wild. Their goal is to photograph Jack by last light.

4:18 is the last time of day where there will be usable daylight for lighting their photographs.
10. What color is the airplane that crashes?

Answer: Red

It was indeed red. The airplane can be seen from many angles as it flies and then as it hits a flock of birds and then crashes. Beautiful aerial photography in the film.

The airplane crash causes Charles, Bob and Stephen to be stranded in the wild.

Before the airplane crashes, Charles asks Bob how Bob is planning to kill him.
