Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This 1979 film is by Lucio Fulci. It has a very memorable scene where a zombie is underwater attacking a shark. Which film is it?

Answer: Zombie

The dead rise on the cursed island of Matool and attack living victims in this classic by Lucio Fulci. This film is one of Fulci's best known among horror fans. Other titles this movie goes by are 'Zombi 2', 'Zombie Flesh Eaters', 'Zombie Island', 'Woodoo', and 'Island of the Living Dead'.
2. Which 1980 Italian-Spanish movie, directed by Umberto Lenzi, involves fast moving zombies that kill victims with weapons?

Answer: Nightmare City

After a military plane makes a mysterious emergency landing, the doors open and out comes a large slew of the undead. They violently attack military workers with guns, knives, etc. A nuclear accident is the reason for all the chaos, as it is in a lot of zombie films.
3. "When the moon turns red, the dead shall rise" is a tagline to this 1981 Italian, grindhouse, zombie classic that stars Peter Bark as Michael. Michael has a very strange relationship with his mother, which is one of the things most remembered about this gruesome film. What is the name of this forgotten gem?

Answer: Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror

A scientist accidently releases an ancient curse that brings the dead back to life. After the scientist is killed by the zombies, seven of his guests, who were invited to stay at a mansion arrive, not knowing the terror they are in for. They wind up getting attacked by bloodthirsty zombies! Andrea Bianchi directs this cult film.
4. Linda Blair stars in this zombie movie about a cryogenic facility that suffers a power outage due to a storm. This and a lightening strike causes some frozen bodies to come back as murderous zombies. Name the movie title.

Answer: The Chilling

The reason Universal Cryogenics is freezing their customers who have recently died is for the sake of hopefully finding a cure to their ailments, then reviving them to save them. Unfortunately, things don't work out as planned. Things go horribly wrong, as they usually do in films like this one! This 1989 flick also stars Dan Haggerty and Troy Donahue.
5. Actor Ving Rhames is in the 2004 remake of George A. Romero's 'Dawn of the Dead'. He is also in another Romero remake. Which one?

Answer: Day of the Dead

Rhames plays two very different characters in both films. In 'Dawn of the Dead' he plays the role of Sgt. Kenneth Hall. In 'Day of the Dead', which came out in 2008, he plays Capt. Rhodes. Both are remakes of films by zombie film master George A. Romero. 'The Crazies'(2010) is also a Romero remake.

The original is a 1973 classic. Rhames also stars in the 2011 Syfy film, 'Zombie Apocalypse', which is NOT by Romero. In this one, he plays the role of Henry.
6. What do the films 'Shock Waves'(1977), 'Zombie Lake'(1981), and 'Dead Snow'(2009) all have in common?

Answer: Nazi zombies

'Dead Snow' is a Norwegian horror/comedy that involves seven students being chased and attacked by zombies in Norway. 'Shockwaves' and 'Zombie Lake' involve our undead stars attacking their victims in and out of the water. In 'Zombie Lake', a little girl and her father (who winds up becoming a zombie) recognize each other and have a few tender moments together.

This is not very common behavior in zombie movies.
7. Horror legend Bill Hinzman is best known to most horror fans as the zombie who roams the cemetery in the 1968 classic, 'Night of the Living Dead'. He also stars in a 1988 low budget zombie film that he is director, producer, and writer as well as lead actor of. What is the name of this independent horror gem?

Answer: Flesh Eater

In this fun horror film, a farmer finds an ancient box that has a seal on it stating NOT to open the box! Of course the farmer does so...and out pops the flesh eater himself, who then attacks the farmer. Afterwards, the zombies make their way to a group of kids who are partying in separate groups after enjoying a Halloween hayride. Things get pretty ugly to say the least!
8. Here are a few facts about this next film: Zombies come out of a television; mirrors can be used as a weapon against the undead; there is a small black poodle that goes by the name of "Chocolate". Which movie is this?

Answer: The Video Dead

A mysterious tv set that only seems to air an old black and white zombie film called, 'Zombie Blood Nightmare' is delivered to a man's house. The zombies in the film make their way out of the tv and kill the man. A few months later, the zombies terrorize a brother and sister in their home.

The sister (Zoe) discovers that the zombies are afraid of mirrors, which works to her advantage later. Chocolate, who is owned by a girl named April, winds up getting killed by a zombie in the woods. 1987 is the year this horror/comedy came out.
9. March 2004 is when this film saw its release date at the SXSW Film Festival. It stars Jeremy Sisto, Gina Phillips, Ever Carradine and Portia de Rossi among others. It's tagline is "It's like a bad horror movie...only worse!" What is the name of this independent zombie horror/comedy?

Answer: Dead & Breakfast

Six friends get lost while driving to a wedding in Galveston, Texas. They wind up in a tiny town called Lovelock. They make the decision to stay at a bed and breakfast for the night. During their stay in Lovelock they wind up encountering zombies. David Carradine stars as the character of Mr. Wise, who owns the bed and breakfast.
10. Felissa Rose is best known as killer Angela in the original 'Sleepaway Camp'. She also stars in one of these zombie films. Which one?

Answer: Silent Night, Zombie Night

'Silent Night, Zombie Night' is about an outbreak of a deadly virus in Los Angeles that winds up turning people into rabid zombies. Felissa Rose plays the role of Sarah. She winds up becoming trapped with her husband Frank and his cop partner, Nash, while trying to escape the undead.

This film made its viewing premiere at the Gorezone magazine Weekend of Horrors in the year 2009. Another zombie movie that Felissa stars in is 'Zombiegeddon'(2003).
