Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the case Gordon Cole tells Chester Desmond that Sam cracked for the FBI? The ________ Case.

Answer: Whitman

This scene occurs at the start of the film as Sam (Kiefer Sutherland) is introduced to Chester Desmond (Chris Isaak) by Gordon Cole (David Lynch), before they go off together to try and solve the mystery of the blue rose. It is also an introduction to some of Lynch's very bizarre characters, such as Lil who wears a red dress and walks in place.
2. What is the name of the missing FBI agent, played by David Bowie, who reappears while Cooper is messing around in front of the CCTV?

Answer: Philip Jeffries

David Bowie has acted in numerous films over the years, and this is one of his more bizarre roles - playing an FBI agent who disappeared out 'in the field' years ago. His only scenes in the movie consist of a lot of confused shouting, and a very strange dream sequence, where we once again see 'the Man From Another Place' (Michael J Anderson) and BOB (Frank Silva).
3. What is written on the front of Chester Desmond's abandoned car in lipstick at the trailer park?

Answer: Let's Rock

Let's Rock is a phrase that was used also in the "Twin Peaks" TV series, by "the Man From Another Place", when he is seen in the red room, just before he is about to dance. The significance of it being written on Chet Desmond's windscreen is unclear, but it all adds up to trouble as we soon find out.
4. What is the name of the actor who plays Carl at the Happy Trout trailer park

Answer: Harry Dean Stanton

The atmosphere during the scenes at the trailer park is very tense. Clearly Carl is suspicious of all the police activity, despite the fact that Teresa Banks made the place her home just before she was killed. It seems like he has something to hide, and there is definitely something very strange going on.

The behaviour of other characters linked to the murder (Irene at the Diner, Sheriff Cable etc.) leads one to believe that all is not as it seems.
5. Laura Palmer was murdered by a malevolent spirit called BOB, from the White Lodge.

Answer: False

In fact, BOB came from the Black Lodge (because he's evil), and he was using the body of her dad Leland (Ray Wise) at the time, so technically it wasn't really him. He could not have done it had he not been possessing Leland's body. No one really knows the true explanation behind the existence of BOB, save David Lynch, and given the cliffhanger he left at the end of "Twin Peaks" the TV series, it looks as though he's not telling.
6. Who composed the music for the "Twin Peaks" soundtrack?

Answer: Angelo Badalamenti

Angelo Badalamenti has created the soundtracks for a good few David Lynch movies, and also did the soundtrack for the "Twin Peaks" TV series. A few years ago he also did a collaboration album with the lead singer from British based band "James".
7. What is the Log Lady's first name?

Answer: Margaret

The Log Lady's log holds many secrets inside - you just have to talk to it. Although she doesn't feature heavily in the movie, the Log Lady is definitely an important character in "Twin Peaks". Acting as a channel for her log, which she claims "sees things", she bestows advice on a number of "Twin Peaks" residents, including the unfortunate Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee).

In her scene in "Fire Walk With Me", she warns Laura of the dangers of losing her innocence. As Laura's on her way to do some under age drinking whilst she waits for a pimp to find her some clients, it can safely be assumed she didn't take much notice of the warning.
8. Who was in the cabin with Laura the night she was killed?

Answer: Jaques, Leo and Ronette

This is a very important scene in the film, as we see Laura come face to face with her killer - her own father, (albeit acting under the influence of BOB). The scene is shot with minimum lighting, often by torchlight towards the end, as Laura is carried away to her doom. It is nasty.
9. What does the 'Man From Another Place' ask BOB for once he has left Leland's body floating in the red room?

Answer: Garmonbozia

The scene where BOB takes all the garmonbozia (translated as "pain and suffering") from Leland is deeply unsettling. The translation of the word only appears on the subtitled version of the film.
10. What is the name of Sheriff Cable's deputy?

Answer: Cliff

These characters did not feature in the original "Twin Peaks" series, as there was very little focus on the characters before the death of Laura Palmer, which opens the pilot episode of the first series. This film does little to help gain an understanding of "Twin Peaks" however, as watchers will no doubt be aware, although it does contain excellent characters such as Sheriff Cable, who is (according to the newspaper article pinned to the wall in his office), capable of bending steel!
